Mystic Knights Fan Fiction -Shannon's Wish

Shannon's Wish

Part One

Shannon crept through the hallways of her mother's castle trying to keep from getting caught. She knew that if her mother or any of her guards caught her, she was as good as dead, especially considering who she was sneaking out to see.
*I so wish Mother would just give up her hostile takeover of this island and let me and Rohan see each other,* she thought as she ducked behind a suit of armor when she saw a couple of guards headed her way.
Finally the guards disappeared and Shannon bolted for the window where she'd hidden a coil of rope. Tying one end of the rope to a table leg, she threw the other end out the window and climbed down. Once she hit the ground she took one last desperate glance behind her at the castle and ran for the lake.

Rohan sat down on a rock by the lake and looked around. *I hope Shannon shows up soon,* he thought, shivering a little bit. *This place scares me.* Finally he heard the voice he'd been waiting almost a month to hear.
"Rohan?" Shannon stepped out from behind a tree and gave him a hug. "Told you I'd make it," she said with the most beautiful smile he'd ever seen.
"I was beginning to get worried," he said, giving her a kiss on the cheek. Shannon smiled and said, "Not even my mother's guards can keep me from seeing you on your birthday."
"You have no idea," Rohan said with a straight face. Shannon giggled again, not even knowing that one of her mother's guards was watching the whole conversation from behind a tree.

Part Two
Shannon and Rohan were watching the moonlight reflect off the surface of the lake when Shannon looked up. "Rohan, did you hear that?" she asked, looking behind her.
"Hear what?" Rohan said, looking around. Shannon said, "I could have sworn I heard something."
"Don't worry about it, Shannon," he said, giving her another kiss.
But Shannon couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched.
Rohan wondered what had Shannon so scared when he heard a little voice whisper in his ear. "Rohan?"
"Aideen, what are you doing here?" Rohan asked the little fairy. Aideen looked around and said quietly, "Maeve's guards are watching and I think they're after Shannon."
The princess overheard that last statement and said, "What? Mother sent....I could just..."
"Shannon, all you better do now is run!" Aideen said. Shannon looked at Rohan, who was staring at the woods behind him as three of Maeve's guards came out, and said, "Ummmm.....all right." With that she bolted in the other direction. "Aideen come on!" she yelled.
Aideen flew to catch up with Shannon who hid behind a tree while Rohan fought the guards off as best he could. But the guards proved too strong for him and soon he was out cold on the ground.
"Oh no," Shannon whispered. "I'll kill them all myself..." She looked at Aideen and said, "Any ideas?"
"No," Aideen said, shaking her head. "I'm sorry."
Shannon whispered, "It's all right," then looked up in alarm when one of the guards said, "Find the princess! Her mother wants her back unharmed."
"Uh oh," Shannon whispered. Aideen said, "I'll go find Deirdre and the others, maybe they can help."
"They better," Shannon said as the guard closed in on the tree she was hiding behind. Aideen nodded and flew off as fast as she could.
Shannon squeezed into the shadows and tried to hide, but suddenly she was grabbed from behind. "There you are, princess," the guard said.
"Let me go!" Shannon yelled, fighting to get loose. The guard paid no attention to her demands and dragged her back to the castle.

Maeve looked at her daughter, absolutely furious. "Shannon, I TOLD you never to see him again!"
Shannon stared her mother down and said, "You know I never listen to you where Rohan's concerned."
"Obviously," Maeve said, turning to the guard that had brought her in.
"Take her to the dungeon and make sure she's as far away from Rohan as possible." The guard nodded and dragged Shannon off.

Part Three

Shannon peered through the bars of her cell and wondered where everybody was. "Rohan, can you hear me?" she called.

"Barely," was the answer from a cell on the other end of the corridor. Shannon sighed and leaned back against the wall, her green eyes scanning the sky outside for any sign of Aideen or the others.
Aideen flew through the castle looking for anybody that could save Rohan and Shannon. Finally she saw Garrett. "It's about time I found somebody!" Aideen said as she flew over to him.
"What is it Aideen?" Garrett asked. She explained everything to him then said, "I'll get the others, you go to the lake and we'll meet you there!" Garrett nodded and he and Aideen went off in opposite directions.
A while later, Garrett, Angus, Ivar, and Deirdre were at the lake, getting the news of the situaton from Aideen.
"...and if you don't hurry, I have this feeling Maeve is going to kill them both!" Aideen finished.
Deirdre looked away and muttered, "She deserves to die anyway," and immediately got nudged by Angus who whispered, "What was that all about?"
"I'll explain later," the princess replied. Angus nodded and said, "I'm holding you to that because..."
"You want to hear all about it, I know," Deirdre said she looked at Garrett, who was the unofficial leader of the rescue mission.
"Well, let's go for it," he said. The others nodded and they all headed for Maeve's castle.

Shannon was almost asleep when she heard Aideen whisper, "Shannon I'm back!"
"It's about time," Shannon said, sitting up. "Where are the others?"
"They'll be here right about....." Shannon looked up as she heard a battle erupt at the other end of the corridor. "...Now!" Aideen flew off to help them.
Garrett, the only one of the Mystic Knights to actually know Shannon personally, said, "You hold the guards off, I'm going after Rohan and Shannon!"
Ivar nodded and shot one of the guards with a blast from his trident as Garrett ran off.
Shannon heard that and yelled, "Make it fast, Garrett!!"
"All right already!" Garrett said as he grabbed the keys to the cell and let her out. Shannon grabbed the keys and ran for the cell Rohan was in. "Give me a minute..." she said as she fumbled for the right key. Garrett covered her as she found it and opened the cell door, dragging Rohan out. "Come on!" she said as Deirdre yelled, "Can we go yet?"
"Yes we can go..." Garrett said as Shannon hit a guard over the head with a sword she'd swiped from a suit of armor nearby. With that the five Mystic Knights, and Maeve's daughter, made their way to the throne room.
"Going somewhere?" Maeve said when the six of them entered. Shannon gulped and glanced at Rohan, who said, "We're getting out of here if that's all right with you."
"Did I ever say it was?" Maeve said, giving her daughter a look that could kill. Shannon took a deep breath and said, "Mother, you know I don't want to do this, but..." She closed her eyes and started whispering a spell, and when she was done, she, Rohan, Garrett, Ivar, Angus, and Deirdre had vanished.

Shannon and the Mystic Knights had appeared near the lake where it had all started the night before. "I can't believe this just started last night," Shannon said in a shaky voice as she looked up at Rohan.
"Neither can I," Rohan replied, giving her a hug. "It's over now, though."
"Not as long as Mother's still mad at me," Shannon said quietly. "I can't go back to Kells with you...the king knows all about me."
"I could put a good word in for you," Garrett said. Shannon shook her head. "Thank you anyway, Garrett.....but I'd rather stay..." Her voice trailed off as she heard something behind her.
Rohan looked and saw the giant red dragon behind them. "Pyre what are you doing here?" he asked. The dragon didn't answer, just nudged Shannon with his snout.
"I think Pyre's saying Shannon can stay with him," Deirdre said, trying not to giggle. Shannon smiled and said, "I could do that..." She turned and looked at Rohan. "You have to promise to come visit me though."
"You didn't even have to say it," Rohan said, as he pulled Shannon into his arms for a kiss. "Of course I'll come visit you."
Shannon gave him a hug and said, "I knew you would."
