Mystic Knights Fan Fiction - Mystic Knight of Spirit
Mystic Knight of Spirit Part 8
Meanwhile, Angus was searching through Kells castle, desperately trying to find Breaca. He had already run into the princess who had informed him that the mysterious knight was also looking for him.
Angus sighed, wondering where she had gotten off to. He decided that maybe she was waiting in the throneroom. As he entered he saw the others standing near the King.
"What's going on? Everyone looks so morose."
Rohan looked at Angus. He looked extremely worried. "We caught a Temra soldier in the castle a few moments ago."
Angus arched an eyebrow. "Really? What did Maeve have him spying on this time?"
"He wasn't spying, Angus." Deirdre walked up to him. She gently touched his arm. "Somehow, Maeve has kidnapped Breaca."
The thief stared at Deirdre in shock. Breaca? Kidnapped? "What?" Angus couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"The spy admitted to it. He was sent here to find her and deliver her to Maeve." Rohan looked as upset as Angus did.
"We have to find her." The thief was determined. Breaca was the only woman he had ever loved. He wasn't going to lose her.
The Druid stepped forward. "Your majesty, it is disturbing that Breaca had been kidnapped, but there is also another important matter that we must attend to."
The King looked at the Druid. "Yes, the matter of the stones."
Angus sighed heavily. He knew they were right, but he was worried about Breaca.
Rohan, you must go to Tir-Na-Nog and ask the king to send word to Garrett and Ivar. We will need their help."
Rohan nodded and left.
"Won't that take too long? We need to get her back." The thief was getting frustrated.
Cathabad shook his head. "With Fin Varra's magic, the others should be here within no time."
"Well, what do we do in the meantime?" Deirdre asked.
The King sighed. "We wait."
"Tell me, little knight. Where are the rune stones?" Maeve glared at Breaca.
She said nothing. She was not going to Maeve the satisfaction of finding out any of the information about her trip, not to mention the stones.
"Tell me!" The Queen shrieked.
Breaca looked her in the eyes. Her eyes were full of anger and hatred.
The knight was kneeling on the floor, her heads tie behind her back. Maeve wanted to make sure that she couldn't do anything. Breaca knew though that she had to find a way out of the ropes. Her weapons weren't that far away. Getting to them was going to be a different story.
Maeve growled. "Torc! Throw her into her cell."
"I have nothing to tell you, Maeve."
Rohan and his two guests entered into the throneroom.
"Garrett! Ivar!" Deirdre smiled.
Your majesty, I came as soon as Fin Varra informed me of the happenings in Kells." Ivar bowed.
Garrett also bowed, looking toward the princess. "I also came as soon as Fin Varra informed me."
The King stood. "The little king's magic works quickly."
Rohan nodded. "When it is important, Fin Varra will be swift with his magic."
Cathabad approached them. “Now that all of you here, we have very important business to deal with.” He headed off to his workroom, waving the others to follow.
The Druid laid the stones out on his worktable.
"What are these?" Garrett asked. "They look very much like Maeve's rune stone."
Cathabad explained to Garrett and Ivar about what had happened recently, with Breaca's quest and the finding of the rune stones. "According to her, each one corresponds to one of you." He pointed to the Mystic Knights.
"Which one is which?" Ivar asked.
The Druid shook his head. "That I do not know." He thought for a moment. "Maybe if each one of you picked up a stone and held it."
Deirdre was the first to pick up a stone. As she held it in her hand, she could feel the power of it. The others took the opportunity to do the same. Amazingly they all picked up the proper stones. All of them could feel the power ebb through them. The stones were powerful. More powerful than anything they had ever encountered before.
The king watched as each of knights held a rune stone in their hands. He was afraid that the power may corrupt them, but then as he watched them hold the stones, he knew that their agenda was still as it should be.
"Good, you are ready."
Angus held the stone in his hand, thinking of what Breaca had gone through to get it. "For what? What exactly are we supposed to do?"
The Druid thought for a moment. "Well as far as I have been able to determine, if each of you hold your appropriate stone, then bring them together at the same time. Maeve's powers should be destroyed."
They all looked at the Druid. Could this really be the way to the end of the war with Temra and to Maeve? None of them knew for sure, but it was worth the risk. They had been battling Maeve for many years and the entire kingdom was tired and ready for peace.
The five Mystic Knights turned to each other. The saluted the king and said, in unison, "To Kells!"
Maeve had kept Breaca in the cell for only a few hours before she decided to question her more. Torc came by, unlocked the cell and drug her out. She was almost getting used to the routine.
"You know I can walk, Torc."
Torc looked at her and sneered. She had noticed by now that he didn't seem to be much of a talker.
Maeve smiled in satisfaction as she watched the miserable knight pulled into the thrown room. "Are you ready to tell me yet?"
"Tell you what? How lovely you are looking today?" Breaca smiled casually at her.
The Queen growled. She couldn't stand the way this woman acted toward her. "You will tell me about the rune stones or you will never leave this castle. At least not alive." She smiled.
Breaca looked at her. She smiled at the Queen, knowing that it would only frustrate her further. But she needed to do something, while she worked feverishly at trying to loosen the rope that bound her hands.
"My queen!" A guard ran into the throne room, a look of terror on his face.
She whirled around to face her guard. "What?!" she shrieked.
The guard panted for a moment, trying desperately to catch his breath. "The Mystic Knights. They're entering the castle."
Breaca smiled. "You're finished Maeve."
The sound of clanging metal could be heard. Breaca could see the look on Maeve's face was one of fear, instead of her usual haughtiness.
The knight was still working desperately to free herself, when the Queen moved herself so she was behind Breaca, her sword at the knights throat. This was not part of my plan, she thought, as she continued to work at the ropes.
As Maeve's soldiers were pushed into the throne room, Maeve became more nervous. She only had a small amount of magic at her disposal, since Breaca had destroyed Mider's portal and her sceptre. She hoped she had enough to combat the Mystic Knights.
Breaca heaved a sighed of relief as she saw Angus and the others come running into the throne room. By this time she had almost gotten the ropes untied as well.
"Let her go." Rohan demanded.
Maeve cackled. "No, I will not. She is my prisoner and you will never free her."
Rohan looked at the other knights. They knew what to do. They circled around Maeve and Torc. Torc had his weapon drawn, ready to defend his Queen. Maeve watched them as they circled her.
Breaca noticed the stone that Angus held in his hand. He had one of the rune stones. She had to work fast.
Maeve moved her sword away from Breaca just for a moment. That moment was all Breaca needed. She had freed herself of her bonds. She rolled forward, away from Maeve.
The Queen whirled around just in time to see Breaca moving away from her. She howled in anger.
Breaca came out of her roll and stood. She was facing Rohan. She smiled at him, then turned around to face Maeve once again.
"You destroyed my home."
Maeve growled at her. "So what? It was nothing but a pathetic little rock."
Breaca approached her. She stood inches away from the Queen. "It may have been nothing but a pathetic little rock to you, but it was my home."
Maeve never saw it coming. Breaca pulled her arm back, making a fist while she did. All anyone saw, was Maeve drop her sword and grab at her face as she fell backward into Torc.
The Mystic Knights in the circle raised the stones in their hands to air. Breaca took this as her sign to leap out of the circle, lest she be caught in the magic of the rune stones.
The stones started to glow. Each stone glowed the colour of the element it represented. Light began to emanate from the stones, bathing the Mystic Knights. Maeve stared in horror at what was happening. She knew that she was beaten, but she couldn’t help shouting one last thing.
As the light began to creep forth to overtake her and her general, she yelled, "Kells will be mine!"
The light encompassed the Queen of Temra and General Torc. They could hear Maeve screaming as if she was in pain. Slowly her cursing and screaming began to fade. When the light was completely gone, the Queen and her general were as well.
"Where did they go?" asked an exhausted princess.
They all turned to look at Breaca. "Of that I am not sure. I was told the stones were powerful, but I never expected this."
Maeve was gone. For good? No one knew. The only thing that was for sure at that moment in time was that the stones needed to be taken to Tir-Na-Nog and handed over to Fin Varra.
"Maeve is gone?" The little king asked.
Rohan nodded. "Thanks to these rune stones Breaca retrieved, Maeve is no more."
"We saw it with our own eyes." Angus added for emphasis.
The little king shook his head. "Maeve will never be truly gone. She is just not available at the moment." He gestured for the Knights to lay their stones on the table in front of them. As they did, they could feel the power leaving their bodies.
Fin Varra stood from his little throne and approached the stones. "These rune stones will be put away where they will be safe, thereby disallowing Maeve's return to our world. There is no telling how long that will be though." He cast his magic over the stones, causing them to disappear. "Remember though, even if Maeve is no longer physically in Temra, you are still Mystic Knights and you still must protect Kells and Tir-Na-Nog."
The six knights bowed to the little king and left the tiny kingdom. Could it be true? Could Maeve really have been inside those stones? They would never know for sure, but the one thing that was apparent to each of them, was that Kells would be safe.
As they were making their way back to the castle, Angus pulled Breaca back a little from the rest of the group.
"I was hoping to get a chance to talk to you." Angus smiled at her. She loved his smile. He was so charming.
"What about?" She asked. She knew what it was about, but wanted to hear him say it.
"I've been thinking a lot about last night. And well," He slid his arms around her waist and held her to him. She could feel the warmth of his body.
"Yes?" She put her arms around his neck. Slowly she pulled him into a kiss. She was pleased when he kissed her back.
"If you keep doing that, I'm never going to finish."
She laughed softly. "What were you thinking about?"
"Well, now with Maeve gone and all, I was...well," He suddenly let go of her.
By this time the others had noticed that Breaca and Angus had parted from the group. Ivar and Garrett had no idea who Breaca was, much less the relationship that had developed between her and Angus. Quietly Deirdre explained it to them.
Angus knew that their friends were watching them, but he didn't care. He would just tell them later anyway.
He took Breaca's hands in his own. "I love you, you know that. In fact I have never felt this way about anyone in my life." He smiled at her. "You are everything to me. I was scared to death when you went out to search for the rune stones by yourself. Regardless of the fact that I knew you would be all right."
She smiled at him. She opened her mouth to say something, but Angus put his finger up to shush her. She promptly closed her mouth.
"What I am going to say is difficult for me. But here goes." Slowly Angus lowered himself onto one knee. He glanced at his friends who were watching not more than a few feet away. Rohan and Deirdre knew what was happening. Breaca was pretty sure that she knew as well, but there was no way she was going to take this moment away from Angus
He looked up at her. She could see all the love in the world in his eyes. "Breaca, will you be my wife?"
Breaca smiled at him. Rohan and Deirdre smiled at each other. Garrett and Ivar stared at the couple in anticipation. Breaca had waited for a moment like this all her life. Now was that time. The time she had waited for, looked so forward to and sometimes was sure would never come. The moment where she would either give herself completely to a man or break his heart. She could remember when she was a child, she used to dream about these moments. Now it was happening. To her, of all people. She never dreamed in all her life that she would be faced with that question.
Breaca could feel a tear well in her eyes. She looked at Angus with all the love in the world. "Yes, I will be your wife."
