4 to 4 1/2 C unsifted flour
1/4 C sugar
1 T salt
2 packages active dry yeast
1 C water
1 C milk
1/4 C oil
1 egg
| Combine 2 C flour, sugar, yeast and salt in a large bowl.
Combine water, milk, and oil in sauce pan. Warm over low heat.
Mix egg and warm liquid mixture into flour mixture.

Beat 3 more minutes at medium speed.
By hand, stir in another 2 to 2 1/2 C flour to form a stiff batter.
Cover dough with a damp towel. Let
rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour) | Stir down.
Spoon into a greased,9X5 loaf pan or 2 qt round casserole dish.
bake at 375 degrees F for 45-50 minutes.
Cool and brush with melted butter. |

2 eggs
2 egg whites
1 t vanilla
1 C sugar
1 t baking soda
2 C all-purpose flour
1/4 t salt
3/4 C finely chopped nuts |
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F
Combine eggs, egg whites, and vanilla
Add sugar, flour, salt, baking soda.
Beat until it forms a dough
Stir in nuts
Turn out onto a floured board
Knead until not sticky

Divide dough in half
Form into 2 flat logs 15 in long X 2 in wide
Place on cookie sheet, 3 in apart
Bake 40 min |
Remove and cool 10 min
Reduce oven temp to 275 degrees F
Cut logs diagonally into 1/2 to 3/4 in thick slices
Return to cookie sheet and bake an additional 10 to 12 min
Remove, turn over and bake again for 10 to 12 min
Cool |
