This is my scratch-built Standard Lazy Ace biplane. I built the Big Lazy Ace last spring and liked it so well, I bought a set of plans from Chuck Cunningham for the Standard version. This is the first version of three that I intend to build.

Maiden flights were on June 17th, and the Zenoah G-23 provides plenty of power to fly the plane. At half throttle, it's slow, stable, and very pleasant to fly. Landing speed is about 10-15 mph, and it takes off in about 15-20 feet.

Later this summer, I'll build the second version, but will add ailerons to the top wing also. To keep comparisons equal, I'll use the G-23 and the same Hi-Tec Laser 6 radio as well as Ultra Cote for the finish.

When the second version is proven, I'll build the third version and use a semi-symetrical wingplan in place of the flat bottom airfoil and 4 ailerons. I'll also change the stab and see if I can get some enhanced aerobatic qualities like its big brother.
