Hockey, the 2000 problem, and bad play control

Last night I witnessed something great. It was my first time to see a minor leage hockey game. It was one of the coolest things that I have ever seen. It's pure violence on ice. I think some of the players didn't even care about the game, they just wanted to beat the sh*t out of players on the other team. The crowd didn't even cheer until there was a fight. A goal? They didn't care. Everyone just liked the violence. Hockey is the only sport where someone can get hurt and walk back to his team and get booed. The only way they could improve it would be to get rid of those pesky referees.

The next topic at hand is the "2000 Problem". Sure it's going to screw up old computers and it doesn't sound like a big deal, but it could start complete caos. Think about it, if all the old computers used in power companies shut down (where I live anyway) everyone will get crazy. Stores won't work without power and people tend to get hungry and need to acuire thier food more "unconventionally" so the riots will break out. Some people will decide they want someone elses food, guns, stuff, women, or whatever, so they'll attempt to steal it. As I figure ammo will be the big commodity (and guns and weopons). People will have to protect themselves. The people with a lot of ammo will live like kings. Or of course it is possible that none of that will happen and we'll miss some school. Yay!

The final part of my rant will be video game related. The thing that p*sses me off more than anything else in a game is bad play control. It can make or break a game. I remember Rise of the Robots on the ole SNES. It had raytraced graphics, but the control sucked arse. Bubsy 3D is another example. It's graphis weren't great, but they were hi-res and the frame rate was fine, but the controller felt like it was filled full of mud when I tried to play it. I never really thought that Crash Bandicoot that good of a game, but its control is awesome. (the graphics are too)
