Danae and Mara's News, New, and Improved!

Alright, for a while last year we kind of stopped updating our newspaper we had on here. So here is the New and Improved version of Danae and Mara's News. It will probably be much more education-oriented then it used to be, building around what we are presently learning in school (which is the Renaissance/Reformation). The Renaissance is proving to be a fascination and exciting subject! We will leave each article on a month, and update it once a month.

News Flash: Girolamo Savonarola Has Bonfire of the Vanities!

Yesterday in Florence, Italy, the radical leader Savonarola started the "Bonfire of the Vanities". The citizens of Florence burned books, art, and other 'luxuries' or vanities. The blaze could be seen throughout the city. Sandro Botticelli, gifted artist that was one of the late Lorenzo de'Medici's artists burned several of his acclaimed paintings. Many other artists followed suit.

Savonarola seems to be the new leader of Florence, the capitol of Italy in the arts. After Lorenzo de'Medici's death earlier this year, and his son Piero who proves a failure to the Medici name, Florence has had a marked change. There are rumors that he will soon be traveling to Rome. We will continue to keep you updated on him.
