Kameria gazed out her window and watched as her wolf, Shadow, chased her sister Cameal. She could not help but to laugh at the sight. She stood up quickly and ran to the back yard. Kameria quickly called off her wolf and laughed as she did so.
"Shadow ! Shadow stop it! Shadow come here!" she cried.
The grey wolf turned and let it's green eyes meet Kameria's blue eyes. She brushed a strand of blonde hair out of her face as they stared each other down. Then Shadow darted over to her and jumped up into Kameria's arms. She laughed as he licked her face happily.
"You wouldn't be trying to leave now would you sister dear?"
"Now Kameria, I have the right to go somewhere without you right behind me!" her sister responded.
"But Cameal, it's always so much fun when I'm with you!" Kameria retorted.
"We also get into alot more trouble too!" Cameal reminded her. "Anyway I'm going into town."
"Not without Shadow and I!" Kameria protested.
Cameal rolled her eyes and then whistled loudly. As she did a beautiful white horse came running out of a nearby barn. It had silver eyes, pure white mane and tail, and even it's hooves were the purest of white. The horse was already saddled up and ready to go. Cameal leaped up onto the horse and gently kicked it's sides.
"Come on Saline," she spoke softly to the horse.
The horse neighed and began to run away from the house. Kameria only laughed, she too then whistled and waited for her steed.
A large antelope came leaping out of the barna nd over to Kameria. On it's back was a large saddle and reins just likea horse. Kameria climbed onto it and they took off after Saline and Cameal.
"Give it up Kameria!" Cameal called back.
"No way! You know as well as I do that Teklan is faster than Saline!" she replied.
Cameal laughe and gently kicked Saline's sides again. This time teh horse spread wings and began to fly down the road. Kameria laughed and leaned closer to Teklan and the antelope moved quicker and more agile.
Down farther on the road, two men drove along minding their own buisness. They then began to discuss their latest witch hunt. The older, more experienced man was gloating over how he had destroyed the evil witch. The second man sat quietly. The lady he claimed was a witch, really had not seemed to be one. She seemed like a normal girl. Suddenly he was brought out of his thoughts when he heard his parner cry out.
"A pegasus? What the? A witch!" he cried.
"Kaleb! Watch out for that deer coming our way!" the second man shouted.
Kaleb turned in time to see the deer leap over his speeding car. Kaleb hit the brakes and skidded to a stop. H couln't bleive what he had seen. He turned around to catch another glimpse but it was gone.
"Did you see it Alex?" Kalbe asked.
"All I saw was the deer," Alex replied.
"That was an antelope, not a deer," Kaleb corrected him.
"Antelope, deer what's the difference?" Alex questioned.
"It doesn't matter," Kaleb siad in a suddenly serious tone. "We have a witch to catch."
Alex swallowed a lump in his throat. he had wished Kaleb would nto have said that. He could nto admit it to Kaleb, however he hated witch hunting.
Cameal landed Saline at the edge of town and the Pegasus folder her wings. Kameria, Shadow and Teklen quickly caught up to them. Cameal looked at her sister and saw a strange look about her face.
"What is it Kameria?" she asked. "Too close for comfort?"
"Worse Cameal," Kameria whispered. "Hunters."
"Hunters?" Cameal questioned.
"Yes," Kameria nodded. "He had a sticker that read `Witches still exisit, we must protect oursevles'."
"Great! Just what we need," Cameal sighed. "WEll let's get our shopping done."
"Okay," Kameria said as she slid off of Tklen's back. "Teklen wait for us at the river bank."
The antelope nodded and then pranced away into teh forest. Cameal nudged Saline and they began to walk towards the town. Kameria and Shadow followed them closely. Going into town was a difficult task for them. Everyone feared them, everyone knew who and what they were.
"Don't worry sis we won't be here long," Cameal smiled.
"Promise?" Kameria asked.
"Yeah, I promise!" Cameal smiled again.
Kaleb and Alex had turned the car around and headed for the town. Kaleb had a suspicion that the townspeople would knew about the witch he had seen.
Kameria and Cameal had just finished their shoppping and had returned to the forest. Kameria let out a long whistle and waited for Teklen to return. As they stood there waiting, they saw the same car as before heading for them. Shadow began to growl deeply. Kameria stayed with Shadow while Cameal and Saline hid in the forest.
The car slowed down and came to a stop. Shadow growled and leaped at teh car. Kaleb began to roll downhis window but Shadow lunged at him snapping his jaws. Kaleb jumped and closed his window. He quickly took off without saying a word.
"Did you see that? That girl was restraingin that large dog!" Kaleb said in shock.
"That was a wolf not a dog," Alex corrected him with a smile.
Kameria and Shadow watcheda s the car vanished from sight. She then turned around towards the forest and called for her sister. Teklen appeared followed by Cameal and Saline. Kameria hopped onto Teklen and began to trot into the woods. Cameal started to follow but stopped suddenly. Kameria froze and turned to face her sister.
"What's wrong Cameal?" Kameria asked.
"I'm going home. It's too dangerous for me to be out. Those hunters are looking for me," Cameal told her.
"Yeah I guess you're right. I'll be home shortly," Kameria said. "Shadow go ahead and go with Cameal."
Shadow nodded and began to follow Cameal. Kameria turned Teklen around and began to slowly walk throught he forest. Both her and Cameal would have to lay low for awhile.
Alex helped Kaleb set up his traps. They had found out that the witches occassionally took walks thrugh the woods after going shopping. After placing the lare cage high into a tree, Kaleb left to start antoher one while Alex secured the trap. As he finsihed he began to walk away when one of the ropes snapped. The cage plummetted down uponhim and trapped him beneath it.
"Kaleb!" he cried. "Kaleb help me!"
"You need a hand?" a female voice asked.
Alex looked up fromw hre he laid. His eyes widned as he saw the young lady a top of an antelope. She held a sweet smile and slid off the antelope's back.
"My name's Kameria and this is my steed Teklen," she introduced.
"My name is Alex," he whispered.
"Do you need a hand?" she asked again.
"Yes please!" he nodded.
Kameria began to pusyh the cage over and then Teklen joined her. Together they had enough strength to move the cage off of the trapped man. Alex smiled at them and thanked them many times for their help.
"Thank you!" he said again.
"You're welcome," Kameria smiled softly.
"Are you one of the witches the townspeople talk about?" he asked.
Kameria laughed, "Is that what they call us? I have an antelope for a steed and my sister a pegasus. We use Elemental Magic to protect the woods. We are more like nymphs than witches bu tif that is what you ant to call us...."
"I see," Alex whispered. "So Kaleb is wrong. Not all witches are bad."
"That's right," Kameria nodded. "Let me see your hand."
Alex gave her hishand and watched as she examined it. She traced the lines taht covered his hand. She then let it go and smield at him.
"You have the marks of a witch yourself. It's in yoru blood, see all those x's?" she asked.
He looked down at his hand, "Yes."
"That's the proof," she replied.
"Which would explain why he does not like his job," Kaleb said from behind.
Alex whipped around while Kameria slowly and gracefully turned to see the hunter. He held a rifle in his arms and pointed it towards Teklen.
"That is a mistake," she said calmly.
"Oh really?" Kaleb asked.
Kameria raised her arm and a gust of wind knocked Kaleb back and onto the ground. The rifle fell otu of his hands and tumbled to the ground as well. Plants rose up aroundt he rifle and buried it deep in the earth. Kaleb could not believe his eyes. He stoodup and pulled outa knife and rushed towards Kameria.
Kameria stood still and forced Alex to do the same. Kaleb rushed closer and closer to the two. Suddenly a wolf leaped out from the trees. It tackled Kaleb to the ground and then jumped off of him and raced to Kameria's side.
As Kaleb tried to stand up, vines of all types wrapped around his body covering him, squeezing the life out of him. Cameal and Saline stepped out of the trees and stood over him smiling just as sweet as Kameria.
"What say you sister? Do you think he should recieve the same type of punishment he put others through?" she asked Kameria.
"I think that would suite him just fine," Kameria nodded with a smile.
The vines suddenly burst into flames and Kaleb screamed for help. Alex stood there motionless and helpless, yet he felt that Kaleb was getting what he deserved. All those innocent deaths he had caused, the pain and suffering of others. By the time the falmes died down, Alex was on the road by himself.
Kameria and Cameal raced each other back tot he house. Shadow kept up with the two easily. The two girls had once again protected themselves and their forest from ultimate distruction.
