PIXAR is a division of Disney animation. We have included this topic in our web-page because of its popularity and reputation for being the first in many films. PIXAR used to be a division of George Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic. Disney purchased this department and named it PIXAR. Its only function is to research and create computer animated media. They have pioneered the full-length computer generated movie and they have lead the way in short works and new technology. They also have a division that works on CD Roms and commercials. Because of its ownership of this company, Disney's name has appeared on all these animated firsts.
