Date: Fri, 27 Aug 1999 06:45:23 -0500 (CDT) From: Tom Young <tayoung@xxxxxxxxxxx.xxxx Subject: Pray Please (Thank You) >>From>> edbucher@lcc.net I need prayers for my husband, Ed. Ed was laid off from his petroleum geology job at an oil company last November. He was given a long severance, but that's running out. He's been trying hard to get a geology position, but you as probably know, the oil industry has been through quite a bad time. Anyway, Ed needs prayers to really open himself to the Lord. If God is wanting Ed to leave the oil industry and go into something else, then Ed needs to be open to God and to His will for Him. I am asking your prayer group to please pray for my husband, Ed, in the next couple of months that the grace and insight he needs to see and obey God's will happens inside him. That Ed will be able to break thru the barriers that keep him from knowing God's will and career plans for him. That Ed receive discernment and receive an ear and a heart for the Lord and His words. And if God wills that Ed stay in the oil industry, then pray that Ed knows that and God shows us that's what he wants for Ed. Thanks. His wife, Mrs. Denise Bucher Please e-mail us with words and scripture verse of encouragement. I wish Ed has a Christian mentor during this difficult time, but it's not happening right now. |
Date: Wed, 25 Aug 1999 18:49:27 -0500 (CDT) From: Tom Young <tayoung@xxxxxxxxxxx.xxxx Subject: Re: 10:30AM evaluation - More Prayer Needed Just talked to my mom now - she said when they removed the patch from her operated eye (for the 3rd time!) the pressure was up significantly, which is good. Then when she got home and laid down for a nap, she awoke to 'double-vision' - the images in each eye are 6" apart from one another! She doesn't know which is "better" - seeing only shadows and tree-shapes before (and keeping the operated eye patched up, thus losing all depth perception), or to walk 'as is' (significantly more difficult than only one eye!), or keeping it patched up now, until she is able to call the doctor tomorrow. Prayers would of course be appreciated - This is week number 18 for my mom with this glaucoma-operative problem! Tommy Tulsa, NLM Deacon http://www.egroups.com/group/prophetic-inroads/info.html |

Date: Thu, 12 Aug 1999 19:51:21 -0500 (CDT) From: Tom Young <tayoung@xxxxxxxxxxx.xxxx Subject: Prayer for Shagildy Atakov. (fwd) ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 12 Aug 1999 15:12:58 EDT From: Ray Prigodich <Prigodich@aol.com> Turkmen preacher handed four-year prison sentence LONDON 5 August 1999 (Compass Direct) -- Shagildy Atakov, a Baptist in the Central Asian republic of Turkmenistan, has been sentenced to four years in prison by a court in the capital Ashgabad. He also has been fined an astronomical sum of $12,000, the Friedensstimme mission in Germany added. Average wages in Turkmenistan are no more than $30 a month. The latest trial -- held August 3 and 4 -- was called after prosecutors complained that the punishment handed down at Atakov's first trial in March was too lenient. He had then been sentenced to two years in labor camp and a $12,000 fine under Article 228 of the Criminal Code, which covers swindling. The charges -- which members of his church say are fraudulent -- relate to his activities as a car trader before he became a Christian and joined the Baptist congregation in the port city of Turkmenbashi. The congregation belongs to the Council of Churches of Evangelical Christians-Baptists, which rejected state control during the Soviet period. Like all non-Orthodox churches in present-day Turkmenistan, it does not have state registration. Local Baptists suggest that the charges against Atakov, an ethnic convert to Christianity, were designed to halt his preaching activity in the Turkmenbashi congregation. Atakov -- who is 36 and married with five children -- was arrested in his home in Turkmenbashi last December. He has been singled out for harsh punishment while in prison, where he was reportedly beaten severely by an officer named Aliev. At one point he is said to have lost his sight as a result of the maltreatment. When members of his family visited him in prison Atakov could not let them embrace him as his body hurt too much. However, in late July, when a group of Baptists visited the prison near the town of Mary where he was being held, the prison director denied that he had been beaten and told the visitors, who were not allowed to speak to Atakov, that he spends his whole time in prayer. Atakov is said to have converted many of his fellow prisoners to Christianity. Some cannot understand why prison staff then beat them for their new-found faith. During a visit in July, the director of the Friedensstimme mission, Klaus Karsten, made an appeal to the president of Turkmenistan, Saparmurat Niyazov, expressing his mission's concern about Atakov's detention and maltreatment. Karsten also expressed concern that officers of the Turkmen National Security Committee (the former KGB) are seeking to expel Vladimir Chernov, the leader of the congregation in Ashgabad, from Turkmenistan solely because he hosts the church in his home. Chernov, a long-time resident of Turkmenistan, holds Russian citizenship. His home has been raided several times, including a raid on June 9, by National Security officers. "We appeal to you -- as the guarantor of the constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens and residents of Turkmenistan -- for the immediate release of Shagildy Atakov and a halt to the harassment of the family of Vladimir Chernov for their faith in God," Karsten wrote in his appeal to Niyazov. - from Newsroom http://www.newsroom.org/ |

(fwd) ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 12 Aug 1999 01:21:27 EDT From: Icmcowboy@aol.com We have found out that in the last week the Islamic Government of Sudan has begun using chemical weapons. On July 23rd, 22 bombs were dropped in three villages in South Sudan. The results are: people are vomiting blood; cattle, goats, and fowls are dying; and most of the pregnant women in the areas have miscarried. We do not have a death toll yet. No bombs have been released in our area; however, due to the current situation, I have decided to pull the women out of the country for a time, until we can further assess. In the areas that have been bombed, all non government organizations have been instructed to pull out. This means when our brothers and sisters need help the most no one is standing by. I have talked to the men on my staff and we have made a decision that we are going to stay, though we will push the chaplains and school deep into the bush for a season to increase security. We have had requests from the villagers to bring in gas masks and suits to protect from chemical and biological weapons. We plan to provide the same for the chaplains and my staff. As we shared before we are in deep need to build a bomb shelter, but most importantly we need the body of Christ down on their knees praying for the suffering church in South Sudan. This is a critical time that the church needs to stand in the gap. Alex our son is nine years old and is afflicted with ulcerative colitis.
He is in the hospital and has lost so much blood he has needed
transfusions. The decision is being made as to whether or not Alex will
undergo surgery. This is an urgent case that needs your immediate and
fervent prayers. Alex's dad asked Marc to contact our Pastors for prayer
and requested visitation. Alex was prayed for at each service yesterday
and Deacons from our church will be going to the hospital to pray over
him.
Please--my brothers and sisters, this little boy needs every moment of
prayer we can give him. Lift him up to our Father who has blessed us this
year with many healings. We have witnessed so many miracles through these
on-line prayer chains. Please pass this along to serious prayer warriors.
I thank you again for your faithful- ness. May the Lord richly bless all

He is resting in the Lord and seeking to put his trust in Christ no matter what. He has come a long way since I first saw him about a month after he was arrested. Pray for the Lord's redemption of his life- the range of sentences he faces is between 5 years to life on each of 7 counts of robbery. Pray for the judge, the court officials and those of us testifying and writing for him. We would like to see restorative justice, including restitution, operate in this case, for a long prison sentence is not going to do anyone any good.I know that some people think I am crazy for standing up for Matthew this long, but I believe God is working powerfully in his life. We have a humble request of your prayer support. In recent times our religious rights have been seriously strangled both by [the] Orthodox Church and [the] mass media, as well as other organizations. Our Church is the largest Protestant congregation in this area (we have 1500 members). While discrediting us they try to discredit all Protestant faith in our city and region. For eight months already each Sunday a group of five to ten Orthodox believers has been picketing our sermons, though it is illegal. They use insulting posters and leaflets, which describe our Church as a dangerous organization. On July 4, 1999, the building which we rent for the sermons was picketed by representatives of a fascist organization (Russian Nationalist Union - RNU). They lined up in front of the building [and] blocked the entrance, shouting slogans alternated with bad swearing, violating the order and provoking a scandal. We had to call for the police. During the procedure of clearing out the circumstances of the accident [incident?] in the police one of the representatives of RNU confessed that this picket had been initiated by [an] Orthodox priest. [The] next Sunday, July 11, five minutes before the beginning of the sermon all the believers were ordered to leave the building because of a telephone call to the police saying that the facility had been mined. It was a false alarm. The aim of this provocation was to disrupt [the] sermon and was inspired by the same people. We also face more frequent negative reports on the activity of our Church in regional and city mass media. So, in [the] "Orthodox Newspaper" in several issues continuously are published conclusions of different psychologists, saying that methods used during the sermons can be harmful for people's health. In addition they draw an analogy with totalitarian sects, which kill their members, and contain other false information and slander. As a result this forms a very negative attitude to the Church. Tonight the City Latest News report over the television informed that on [the] coming Sunday, July 18, the fascists plan to take a revenge and hold a huge manifestation in front of the building where we have our sermons. In this situation we only trust in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We again ask you to lift up our church and this situation in your prayer. Her blood tests did not come out too good. The doctor wants her to take an amniocentesis test to see if the baby has Downs. He said the blood test could be bad because of the tear in the placenta and the amnio test will determine this. She is crying and at work right now they lost a baby in October. She and her husband are talking it over now on the phone regarding the amniocentesis test. Please send out prayers for her and her husband Keith and the baby ASAP. Thanks In His Name, Love Janet |

Subject: Fwd: Prayer Need
Dear Friends in Christ,
The following prayer request is from a valued friend and servant of
the Lord! The "BOB" mention in his note is an unbeliever, who through the
power of much prayer by many faithful, has gotten through a year plus
battle for his life and legs, after a near fatal traffic accident in which
he was ran over "twice"!!
"Betty", the lady now so desperately ill and in pain with terminal
cancer, has witnessed the miracle power of intercessory prayer in Bob's
life, and now needs to experience that power in her own life first hand.
OK, all you prayer warrior's! Man has done all in his power, and now,
"the battle is the Lord's"!, As soldiers in the King's army, let's ask for
His will for Betty, and that she be comforted or even cured in her hour of
need. Remember, "the faithful, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth
much".

Dear Friends,
Because you have all been so faithful in prayer for my buddy Bob during
the last 1 and a half years, I send you another. His typist (remember,
he's a criminal court reporter) has been diagnosed with cancer. What
started in her brain has now spread throughout her body and in the bones
and spine. She is in agony and is undergoing radiation treatment. Today
they will insert a rod in her arm because they said if they don't, her arm
will disintegrate! The doctor today gave her a "death sentence" so to
speak, stating it's only a matter of time now. He didn't disclose how
much. She was very discouraged. She knew that we had been praying for Bob
all this time, so she especially request through him that i send out a
call for prayer on her behalf to all of you. What a privilege! :-}
Thanks so much. Love, Frank

This was devastating because 2 of the surgeons who were supposed to be in on the planning of this were on vacation and when they returned cancelled it due to some test results. We are not sure that decision was made for the best because her mother has talked to other doctors and did research and they do not think that it should have postponed it. Also pray for her grandfather who is donating his kidney. Please pray that God guides her mother and they make the decisions that HE wants. Of course a miracle healing would be great and then He would be glorified by us declaring it a miracle by him! |

Subject: The Right to Preach Freely is Challenged in British Courts next week
Date sent: Fri, 25 Jun 1999 09:36:04 +0100
Next week sees a historic court held in the divisional court in London.
The issue is the right to preach freely in UK. The person who is the
centre of this debate is Alison Redmond-Bate who carried on preaching
after a policeman told her to stop because he didn't like what she was
preaching about and said that people were complaining. The result was that
upon continuing to preach Miss Redmond-Bate and other were arrested and
charged with obstructing a PC in the course of his duties.
This case went to trial in Wakefield and has been carried further up the
appeal chain to the divisional or national court held in London, next
Friday the 2nd July 1999.
"This case if lost , challenges the right to freedom of speech for all
Christians in Europe", Pastor Dacre stated. Pastor Dacre leads the
ministry from which these teams of preacher originate.
Teams of preachers go out each day preaching the turning back to God and
godly values for the nation of Britain with varying degrees of effect. In
York and Wakefield crowds of up to 500 persons at a time gather to hear
the preachers with the crowd being divided for and against their
preaching. The police in their attempts to allay any possible furore often
arrested the preachers and take them to jail. Alison Redmond Bate has
spent many weeks in prison at different times after preaching to such
crowds.
Is this a return to the dark ages in Britain or have these preachers the
right to preach here freely? This question will be broached in court next
week.
"All things are possible to him who believes"
Mk9:23

(fwd) ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Tue, 15 Jun 1999 12:01:43 EDT From: Icmcowboy@aol.com Just received this prayer request this morning via England. -- Dave Roberts, Salt Lake City: UZBEKISTAN: CASE OF MR. SERGEI VIKTOROVICH BRAZGIN FROM UCHKUDUK HRWF (15.06.1999) - Website : http://www.hrwf.net - Email : info@hrwf.net - On February 14, 1999 Mr. Sergei Viktorovich Brazgin (born 1967) and his wife Tatiana Viktorovna Brazgina, living in Uchkuduk, Uzbekistanskaia Street 16, apt. 26, visited the apartment of Mr. Mustakhim Khalilov where they discussed about the Bible with other visitors. Suddenly, there was a loud knock on the door and four law-enforcement representatives entered. They asked the people present to continue their meeting. Then the captain of militia Mr. Samiyev declared that it was an illegal activity, as the organization is not registered in the Republic. The officials confiscated many things in the room, including the notes, literature, and audiocassettes. They verbally insulted all the people and then gathered everyone from the apartment and put them on a bus. They were taken to the station and forced to write an explanation. Mr. Brazgin along with his wife, Tatiana, and Oleg Rusinov were interrogated. They were threatened with physical violence. On February 25, Mr. Brazgin was detained in KPZ (cell of pretrial detention). Then he was sentenced to two years in prison. The reasons are according to the Art. 216/1, 216/2 and 229 of the Penal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan "an activity in prohibited. religious organizations, movements, sects after administrative punishment for such activity" and "illegal religious activity". (Before these events, on July 9, 1998, Mr. Brazgin was fined for "illegal missionary activity" according to the Art. 240 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. However, no religious organization gave him a status of missionary and he does not proclaim himself as a missionary). Religious freedom is formally guaranteed in the Article 31 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In 1996, Uzbekistan ratified the International Covenant on Civilian and Political Rights that guarantees religious freedom in the Article 18. Please take steps on behalf of Mr. Brazgin for his release.
