By Nintendo

The sequel to Super Mario Bros. that Japan never got (until Super Mario All-Stars got released). In this game, Mario, Luigi, the Princess (at that time called Toadstool instead of Peach), and Toad travel to a place called Sub-Con, the world of dreams, to stop the evil Wart and his "dream machine" from producing nightmares across the land. Although there are some "Super Mario-type items", like the super mushroom, the POW block (from the Mario Bros. arcade game), and the super star, most of the game is completely new. No Goombas, no pipes, no Bowser. Some enemies did, however, get into other Mario games a few years after this one got released, like Bob-Ombs, Shy-Guys, and Birdo. Despite the fact that this game is so different than all the other Mario games, this is definitely worth picking up. In 1993, the game was released in the 16-BIT Super Mario collection Super Mario All-Stars and later on in 2001 for the Game Boy Advance in Super Mario Advance (this one is a bit different than the original).
