Jet Force Gemini
It's been a while since Rare's last Nintendo 64 game. But waiting for Jet Force Gemini was worth it. The game is an excellent example of what N64 games can be. Only a few games can be considered top-notch games (Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, and GoldenEye 007), and this definitely joins the ranks as one of those games.

Although the animation is a bit slow and shakey, the graphic detail of the worlds in which you explore are stunning. Boss characters are huge and small enemies move realistically. Weapon animation is also a spectacle.

If there's one great thing about Jet Force Gemini, besides the level of action, it's the sound. Great music. Dolby Surround Sound gives you a cinematic experience. And, although gross, the sound of the bugs exploding outward onto the floor and walls is also impressive. You can almost feel the slimy bug guts.

Play control is a bit of a letdown. It always seems like you can't aim at your enemies unless they're right on top of you, and whenever you run around it seems like you're running on ice. But in the longrun, the control isn't terrible. It just would have been nice if Rare would have spent a bit more time improving the play control.

The level of action gives this game plenty of challenge. Also, the difficulty of this game is heightened thanks to the somewhat poor play control, as talked about above. Because of the poor control and hit detection, the game comes off as being hard -- at first. After long hours, you may get used to the control and the difficulty may drop. Anyway, the enemies are smart and deadly, even if some of them look "cute".

Is this game fun? Yeah, but the multi-player mode lacks. It does offer some interesting modes, but (again) because of the poor control, some players may just go back to other popular death-match shooters, like GoldenEye 007 or Turok 2.

GOOD: Detailed Graphics, Smart AI, Great Music, High Level of Action

BAD: Poor Control, Slow Animation, Limited Multi-Player Mode
