Harold Oliver Willis
Better known as Hal, Detective Third. Books hint that he was a Marine in WWII. He is unquestionably an expert in
judo, which comes in handy considering his chosen
profession. He seems to be at a disadvantage, being below average in height (5'8" 1/4) and slight
in stature. Thugs are always taken aback at his prowess in the martial art.
His hair is black and curly, his eyes are warm and dark brown. He is said to resemble Fred Astaire. He has a November birthday.
His character develops fully in Poison, when he becomes involved with
Marilyn Hollis in a serial-killing case. Hollis and Willis (the well-known vaudeville act) remain together until Hollis' untimely death.
