Eileen Burke
Detective Second Grade. Introduced in The Mugger. Member of Special Forces Team. She is loaned out to the Eight-Seven for special assignments, and aspires to be Chief of Detectives. Her role model was her uncle Matt of the 110th, who was killed while off-duty. Her father, Pops Burke, also a policeman, was killed in the line of duty. Tall, redheaded, green-eyed, (a favorite device of McBain's) utterly capable,but too defensive for my tastes. A romance with Bert Kling began in Ice. A messy breakup followed after Kling attempted to interfere in a stakeout, which resulted in Eileen being forced to kill her attacker.
