Welcome to SWARM 2000.
The second Official Hornet Meet-Up and Ride-Out.

‘The last of the summer swarms’

Well folks, this is it. The big one!
Everybody's chance to meet up and have a chinwag about Hornets. Share stories and experiences, have a laugh and ride through the countryside.

The date: SUNDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER 2000.

The Place: Kent Motorcycles, Barham, Kent.

The Agenda: 9:30am Start

11:00am The White Cliffs Experience

1:00pm Lunch and Raffle

2:00pm The S&M Experience

4:00pm Awards Ceremony

The Finer Details:

The White Cliffs Experience - This is a trip, led by Dave and Max, approx. 35 miles, around some of the more spectacular areas of White Cliffs Country, with a stop off for ice-creams at Kearsney Abbey. Beautiful scenery and a relatively gentle pace.
The Raffle - tickets will be £1 each and the first prize will be goods to the value of how ever much we raise to the winner's choice, from Kent Motorcycles. If the winner wants to make up the price for something dearer, that won't be a problem. There will be at least 2 other prizes.
Lunch: There is a cafe on site which will be open for our use.
The S&M Experience - trip of around 60 miles through a wide variety of roads, with some really challenging stretches. This will be led by Sue and Maddie, and is not for the faint-hearted. If there are a large number of Hornets, it will be split into 2 groups for safetys sake.
Awards - the usual gongs for Best Hornet and Furthest Travelled, plus some more unusual ones, mostly just for fun.
Special Guests - hopefully at least 3, but they've yet to be confirmed.
Demonstrator - We should have a Hornet 'S' available to use on the day.

We'll also have a host of Hornet and Club Merchandise such as T-shirts, stickers, key rings, pens etc etc.

Directions...

From the Dartford Crossing...

OK, if you're coming through the Dartford crossing from the Northern realms, pick up the M2 just this side of the crossing. Stay on it to the end, junction 7. Take the slip road for Canterbury/Dover. 4th. exit of the roundabout pick up the A2, signed Canterbury/Dover. Head down, go for it for miles and miles, till you see the turning for Wingham/Bridge/Barham. Past that and another small turning for Woolage. The A2 starts to climb here. On the brow of the hill, you will see a brown sign for the Old Coach House. Pull into the layby there and you will see Kent Motorcycles. If you miss the layby because you're going too damn fast to stop, go another 1/2 mile down the A2 and turn right into Lydden circuit. U-turn back up the other side of the carriageway. Take the Barham turning, right at the bottom of the slip road, turn right at the signs for Dover and back onto the correct side of the A2. Keep repeating this till you get it right.

From the West - M25 anti-clockwise...

On the other hand, if you're coming from the West, via the M25, anti-clockwise, pick up the M26, then the M20, coast-bound. Head up the A249 at Junction 7 onto to the M2, Dover bound. Then follow the directions as in the above section.
