Chapter 3

Meadow appeared in Isaac’s dream the next night too.

“Why do I feel like I’m going crazy?” he asked her.

“I don’’ know. You’re not.”

“But you’re so real. And you’re only in my dreams.”

“I am real. And I’m only in your dreams for a reason.”

“Why?” Meadow smiled.

“So you don’t seem like you’re going crazy.” He smiled as well.

“Oh.”

“Why are these dreams so short?” he asked.

“Ask yourself. I don’t make them short. You do.”

And the dream was over. Isaac was awake and staring at the ceiling .

“I wish I could see you.” He whispered.

“You will in a short time.” He heard the voice from the corner. He sat straight up on his bed.

“Meadow? Are you there?” Isaac asked anxiously. He heard no answer.

“Go back to sleep.” It was whispered into his ear.

THE NEXT DAY

“What are you so smiley about today?” Taylor asked Isaac.

“Nothing. I just feel like today is going to be a good day.” He walked over to the family’s piano and played his rendition of Bach’s “Joy.”

“Someone’s happy.” Jessica Hanson stated as she walked into the room.

“Why do you sat that?” Isaac asked.

“You only play that song when you’re extremely happy.”

“Well I am.” But he didn’t know why. Meadow was in him. She lit his soul. Made him joyful. Her fingers stretched into his and began the first chords of Pachbell’s “Canon in D.” As he continued, his mother walked in.

“I didn’t know you could play that song. It’s one of my favorites.”

“Me either. It just started flowing.” Meadow was lucky to have had the job of watching over a famous pianist. As the song ended, Isaac stood up.

“I think I’ll go write a song.”

Diana, Jessica, and Taylor shrugged at each other as the presence of Isaac was gone.
