Dal fi'n agos at yr Iesu
Er i hyn fod dan y groes;
Tra bwy'n byw ym myd y pechu
Canlyn dani bura foes;
Os daw gofid a thywyllwch,
Rho im argyhoeddiad llwyr–
Wedi'r nos a'r loes
a'r trallod,
Bydd goleuni yn yr hwyr.
Dysg im edrych i'r gorffennol,
Hyn a ladd fy ofnau i gyd:
Dy ddaioni a'th drugaredd
A'm canlynant drwy y byd;
Os daw deigryn, storm a chwmwl,
Gwena drwyddynt oll yn llwyr;
Enfys Duw sy'n para i ddatgan
Bydd goleuni yn yr hwyr.
Tywys di fi i'r dyfodol
Er na welaf fi ond cam;
Cariad Duw fydd eto'n arwain,
Cariad mwy na chariad mam.
Mae Calfaria'n profi digon,
Saint ac engyl byth a'i gŵyr;
Er i'r groes fod yn y llwybyr
Bydd goleuni yn yr hwyr.
Tonau [8787D]: |
Keep me near to Jesus
Even if this be beneath the cross;
While I live in the world of sin
Following under it purifies my life;
If grief and darkness come,
Give me complete conviction -
After the night and the anguish
and the tribulation,
There will be light in the evening.
Teach me to look to the past,
This which kills all my fears:
Thy goodness and thy mercy
Which follow me through the world;
If tears, storm and cloud come,
Smile through them all completely;
It is God's rainbow that continues to declare
There will be light in the evening.
Lead me to the future
Though I see but a step;
The love of God will still lead,
Love greater than the love of a mother.
Calvary proves enough,
Saints and angels ever know it;
Though the cross be in the path
There will be light in the evening.
tr. 2009 Richard B Gillion |
Keep me near Thee, gentle Saviour,
Though beneath Thy Cross it be;
Living in a world so sinful,
'Tis Thy cross will strengthen me:
Doubts and trials may assail me,
Let my thoughts on Thee abide;
After darkness,
pain and sorrow,
'Twill be light at eventide.
Be Thy Spirit ever near me,
As in fear I onward move;
Love divine will safely lead me.
Love beyond a mother's love:
Saints and angels all bear witness.
Calvary hath testified,
Though the cross be in thy pathway,
'Twill be light at eventide.
