Yn nydd trugaredd, wele ni
O'r llwch yn galw arnat Ti:
O! trugarha,
Waredwr da, cyn delo'r nos!
O! dyro d'Ysbryd, Arglwydd Iôr,
I ni sy'n plygu wrth dy ddôr,
I'n llwyr lanhau
O bob rhyw fai,
cyn delo'r nos!
Er mwyn yr ingoedd yn yr ardd,
A'r weddi ddyfal, Iesu hardd,
O! dwg ni oll,
Rhag bod ar goll pan ddelo'r nos!
Ti ŵylaist gynt dros Salem dref,
Am iddi wrthod gras y nef:
O! pâr i ni
Dy dderbyn Di, cyn delo'r nos!
O! Farnwr a Gwaredwr dyn,
Tosturia, achub ni, bob un;
Dod i ni le
O fewn y ne', pan ddelo'r nos!

In the day of mercy, see us
From the dust calling upon thee:
O have mercy!
Good Deliverer, before night come!
O grant thy Spirit, Sovereign Lord,
To us who are bowing at thy door,
Completely to cleanse us
From every kind of fault,
before night come!
For the sake of the pangs in the garden,
And the earnest prayer, beautiful Jesus,
O lead us all,
From being lost when night come!
Thou didst weep once over Salem town,
For her rejecting of the grace of heaven:
O cause us all
To receive thee, before night come!
O Judge and Deliverer of man,
Have mercy, save us, every one;
Give us a place
Within heaven, when night come!

Lord, in this thy mercy's day, Ere it pass for aye away, On our knees we fall and pray. Holy Jesu, grant us tears, Fill us with heart-searching fears, Ere that awful doom appears. Lord, on us thy Spirit pour, Kneeling lowly at the door, Ere it close for evermore. By thy night of agony, By thy supplicating cry, By thy willingness to die; By thy tears of bitter woe, For Jerusalem below, Let us not thy love forgo. Grant us 'neath thy wings a place, Lest we lose the day of grace Ere we shall behold thy face.Isaac Williams 1802-65 Tune [777]: Holy Ghost (Johann Crüger 1598-1662) |
