Wrth ganfod llwyddiant mawr dibaid

(Ymostyngiad i Ragluniaeth - Salm lxxiii)
Wrth ganfod llwyddiant mawr dibaid
  Gelynion pena'r gro's,
Prin iawn y sefais ar fy nhraed,
  Bum bron a myn'd i'r ffos.

A dweyd am lendid llwybrau dyn,
  Mai ofer oedd i gyd,
Gan mai'r annuwiol uchel drem
  A lwyddai Duw'n y byd.

Och'neidiais dan fy llwyth o boen
  Nes myn'd i dŷ fy Nuw;
Ce's yno daflu'm baich i lawr,
  A gwelliant llaawn o'm briw.

Eu bywyd diras gwelais gynt,
  eu diwedd welais 'nawr;
Ar glogwyn lithrig safai'u traed
  Uwch ben Gehenna fawr.

Pleserau bydol y'nt rhy ddrud
  I'w prynu â fy ngwa'd;
Rhagorach trysor ddaw i'm rhan
  Trwy ffydd yn Nuw fy Nhad.

Er bod mewn diffyg lawer tro,
  Mi ganaf yn fy lle;
Fe'm rhoir uwch ben fy nigon byth
  'Nol dianc draw i dre'.

(Submission to Providence - Psalm 73)
On discerning the great unceasing success
  Of the chief enemies of the cross,
I hardly stood on my feet at all,
  I almost went into the ditch.

And said about the holiness of man's ways,
  That vain it all was,
Since the ungodly, haughty aspect
  Is what God prospered in the world.

I groaned under my load of pain
  Until going to the house of my God;
There I got to cast my burden down,
  And healing from my bruise.

Their graceless life I saw before,
  Their end I saw now;
On a slippery cliff stood their feet
  Above great Gehenna.

Worldly pleasures are too costly
  To purchase with my blood;
Better treasure shall come to my portion
  Through faith in God my Father.

Although failing many a time,
  I shall sing in my place;
I shall be made content forever
  After escaping home yonder.
