O Dduw y tosturiaethau mawr

(Gweddi dros rai mewn adfyd)
O Dduw y tosturiaethau mawr,
Ein gweddi yma gwrando'n awr;
  I bawb sy'n rhodio'n
      drwm eu baich
  Rho help i bwyso ar dy fraich.

I'r rhai sy'n gaeth
    dan gystudd hir
Dy ddoeth amcanion gwna yn glir;
  I'r mud a'r byddar ac i'r dall
  Rhanna gysuron yn ddi-ball.

I'r ofnus dyro'r gobaith da,
A'r rhai blinderog esmwythâ,
  I'r rhai sy'n gweini ar y gwan
  Bydd, ddydd a nos, yn rasol ran.

I blant afradlon mewn gwlad bell
Dangos y ffordd i fywyd gwell;
  A phâr i edifeiriol rai
  Wybod dy fod yn maddeu bai.

Tyrd yn dy dosturiaethau mawr,
Cofio ein defnydd,
    lwch y llawr;
  A dwg ni oll drwy
      bob rhyw loes
  Yn nes i'r Hwn fu ar y groes.

Tôn [MH 8888]: Bryn-Teg (J Ambrose Lloyd 1815-74)

(Prayer for those in adversity)
O God of the great mercies,
Our prayer here hear now;
  To all who are walking
      with a heavy burden
  Give help to lean on thine arm.

To rhose who are captive
    under long affliction
Thy wise purposes make clear;
  To the mute and the deaf and to the blind
  Apportion comforts unfailingly.

To the fearful give the good hope,
An those weary soothe,
  To those who serve the weak
  Be, day and night, a gracious portion.

To prodigal children in a distant land
Show the way to a better life;
  And cause the repentant ones
  To know that thou forgivest sin.

Come in thy great mercies,
Remember our substance,
    the dust of the ground;
  And lead us all through
      every kind of anguish
  Nearer to him who was on the cross.
