O Arglwydd Dduw! a gaf fi ddod I gynyg i Ti'm hwyrol glôd? Er nad wyf fi yn haeddu dim, Ti roddaist heddyw bobpeth im'. O! maddeu'r beiau, fan a mawr, Gyflawnais heddyw ar bob awr; Os caf fwynhau cydwybod rydd, Fy nghwsg i mi'n adfywiol fydd. Rho imi râs i deimlo'n ddwys Uwchben y pethau mwya'u pwys: Rwy'n gweld fy nhymor yn byrhau, A'r dydd diweddaf yn nesau. Pan bwyf ar huno'n llawn o hedd, Dysg imi feddwl am fy medd; Ac am y tranoeth teg ei wawr A'm cwyd yn llon o lwch y llawr.William Ambrose (Emrys) 1813-73
Tonau [MH 8888]: |
O Lord God, may I come
To offer to Thee my evening praise?
Although I do not deserve anything at all,
Thou hast given today everything to me.
Oh forgive the sins, small and great,
I have committed today at every hour;
If I may get to enjoy a free conscience,
My sleep will be reviving to me.
Give me grace to feel deeply
Above the things of greatest weight:
I see my season shortening,
And the last day approaching.
When I am asleep full of peace,
Teach me to think about my grave;
And on the following day of fair dawn
When I shall rise cheerfully
from the dust of the ground.

Sun of my soul, Thou Saviour dear,
It is not night if Thou be near;
O may no earth-born cloud arise
To hide Thee from Thy servant's eyes.
When the soft dews of kindly sleep
My wearied eyelids gently steep,
Be my last thought, how sweet to rest
Forever on my Saviour's breast.
Abide with me from morn till eve,
For without Thee I cannot live;
Abide with me when night is nigh,
For without Thee I dare not die.
Come near and bless us when we wake,
Ere through the world our way we take,
Till in the ocean of Thy love
We lose ourselves
in heaven above.
