Nid oes eisiau un creadur
Yn bresennol lle bo Duw;
Mae E'n fwyd, y mae E'n ddiod,
Nerth fy natur egwan yw:
Pob hapusrwydd
Sydd yn aros ynddo'i Hun.
Gyrrwch fi i eithaf twllwch,
Hwnt i derfyn oll sy'n bod,
I ryw wagle dudew anial,
Na fu creadur ynddo 'rioed;
Hapus hapus
Fyddaf yno gyda Thi.
Rho'f ffarwel i'r holl gre'digaeth,
Ffarwel feusydd gwych eu rhyw;
Ffarwel deiau, ffarwel diroedd,
Ffarwel dynion goreu'n fyw:
Gwych gyfnewid,
Duw ei hunan yn lle'r byd.
Nis gall dychryn, nis gall ofnau
Nis gall pechod yn gyttûn,
Gael un effaith ar fy enaid
Pan y byddwyf wrth dy glun;
Ofer, ofer
Ceisio'm cyffwrdd yn dy gôl.
Nid oes unman imi'n gartref,
Nid oes drigfan o un rhyw
Alla'i galw yn hyfrydwch
Imi'n awr ond mynwes Duw;
Yn ei fynwes
Mae fy naear i a'm nef.
Beth wyf gwaeth, pe llyngcai'r moroedd
Ddaear ëang yn eu croth?
Beth wyf gwaeth pe
d'ai gwaelodion
Dyfnder mawr yn berffaith noeth?
Beth yw colli,
Môr a daear, ond cael Duw?

Tonau [878747]:
gwelir: |
There is no need of any creature
Present wherever God is;
He is food, and He is drink,
The strength of my weak nature he is:
Every happiness
Is abiding in Him himself.
Drive me to the extreme of darkness,
Beyond the boundary of all that is,
To some black, desert, empty place,
In which no creature has ever been;
Happy, happy,
I will be there with Thee.
Say farewell to the whole creation,
Farewell fields of an excellent kind;
Farewell houses, farewell lands,
Farewell the best men alive:
An excellent exchange,
God himself in place of the world.
Horror cannot, fears cannot
Sin cannot in agreement,
Get any effect on my soul
When I am at thy thigh;
Useless, useless,
Trying to touch me in thy bosom.
Nowhere is home to me,
There is no dwelling of any kind
I cannot call anything delightful
To me now, but God's breast;
In his breast
Is my earth and my heaven.
What harm to me if the seas swallowed
The wide earth in their womb?
What harm to me, if the bottoms
of the great deep
Should become perfectly naked?
What is it to lose
Sea and earth, but to get God?
