Mae cariad Crist yn hyfryd iawn,
Yn ymborth llawn llawenydd;
Tân nefol yw i'w byw'n ddiball,
Nid dw'r y fall
a'i diffydd.
Y ffordd i 'nabod cariad Crist,
Golygu ei drist ddiodefaint;
Ni chospwyd drwg mor drwm i dre',
Na'r cam â phoenau cymmaint.
Pechodau ei bobl ym mhob oes,
Rho'w'd ar y groes ar Iesu;
Gwaed gwîrion gwerthfawr pur ein Pen,
Aeth ar y pren i'n prynu.
Nid aur ac arian er eu gwerth,
Nac aberth anifeiliaid;
Ond aberth gwerthfawr
waed Crist clyw,
Sy'n uno Duw â'r enaid.
Er iddo farw, sicr yw
Ei fod e'n byw'n dragywyddol
Ger bron y Tad mewn undeb clos,
Yn eiriol dros ei bobol.
O enaid truan, gwybydd fod
Dy rasol Briod Iesu
I'th garu â'r un cariad cu,
A phan y bu'n dy brynu.
Mae'n pardwn gwedi selio'n rhad,
A gwerthfawr wa'd y Iesu;
Mae'n dinas-frant o'r deyrnas fry,
A'n dyled gwedi dalu.

[Mesur: MS 8787] |
The love of Christ is very delightful,
Sustenance full of joy;
Under heaven it is to the living unfailing,
The water of the evil one
shall not extinguish it.
The way to know the love of Christ,
The meaning of its sad suffering;
The evil were never punished so severely,
Nor the hurt and pains so great.
The sins of his people in every age,
Were put on the cross on Jesus;
The precious, innocent blood of our Head,
Who went on the tree to redeem us.
Not gold or silver, despite their worth,
Nor the sacrifice of animals;
But it is the sacrifice of the
precious blood of Christ
That unites God with the soul.
Although he died, certain it is
That he is living eternally
Before the Father in close unity,
Interceding for his people.
O pitiful soul, know that
Thy gracious Bridegroom Jesus
Loves thee with the same love,
As when he did redeem thee.
Our pardon has been sealed for free,
With the precious blood of Jesus;
Our citizenship is of the kingdom above,
And our debt has been paid.
