Llyth'rennau dy gyfraith
sy berffaith bob un
Gosodaist hi'n reol
dda ddoniol i ddyn;
Pan ddel yn llaw'r Yspryd,
yn danllyd a dwys,
Daw'r enaid i ganfod
ei bechod yn bwys.
A'r enaid gwirofnus
sydd barchus yn byw,
Llawenydd ei galon
yw deddf union Duw:
Gorchymyn yr Arglwydd
sy beunydd heb ball
Yn llewyrch i'w lygaid
i wiliad i wall.
Ofn mabaidd sancteiddlan
sydd lân a di-lid,
A barnau Duw uniawn
sydd gyfiawn i gyd;
Maent yn fwy dymunol
i'r duwiol a'r doeth,
Na meddu rhifedi
i'w cyfri'n aur coeth.
Mae'r anwyl wirionedd
i'r enaid heb gêl,
Yn llawer melysach
a mwynach na'r mêl:
Mae buddiol rybuddion,
cynghorion ynghyd,
O'u cadw bydd mawrion
wobrwyon ryw bryd.
Ei gamwedd a'i fawr-wall,
pwy ddeall yn dda?
Heb swп t'rannau Sinai,
pwy lefai glanha
Fy meiau cuddiedig,
tra pheryg' a ffol?
Dwg f'enaid sydd danynt
oddiwrthynt yn ol.
Rhag rhyfyg annuwiol,
echryslon a chas,
Sy'm tynnu dy ddial,
Duw attal dy was;
A ffrwyth fy myfyrdod
a'm traethodd bob tro,
I ganmol mawr rhinwedd
fy Mhrynwr mi rho.

Tôn [11,11,11,11]: Geard (Thomas Walker) |
The letters of thy law
are perfect every one,
Thou didst set it as a good
advantageous rule for man;
When it becomes in the Spirit's hand,
fiery and intense,
The soul comes to perceive
its sin as a weight.
And the truly fearing soul
that is living reverently,
The joy of his heart
is the upright statute of God:
The command of the Lord
is daily without fail
Radiance to his eyes
to watch out for error.
The purely sacred filial fear
is holy and without ire,
And the judgments of upright God
are all righteous;
They are more desirable
to the godly and the wise,
Than possessing numbers
to count as fine gold.
The beloved truth is,
to the soul without concealment,
Much sweeter
and dearer than the honey:
It is beneficial warnings,
counsels altogether,
From keeping them shall be great
rewards some time.
Hits transgression and great error,
who understands well?
Without the sound of the thunders of Sinai,
who would cry, "Cleanse
My hidden faults,
so perilous and foolish.
Lead my soul that is under them
back out from them"?
From ungodly, ugly
and detestable presumption,
Which is attracting thy vengeance,
God, stop thy servant;
And the fruit of my meditation
which told me every time,
To extol the great merit
of my Redeemer, I shall give.
