Hyd yma o'm plaid y safodd Duw
Hyd yma rhoes im' oes i fyw;
A phob prydnhawn o hyd 'rwy'n cael
Prawf newydd o'i
drugaredd hael.
Gwastraffais f'amser lawer rhan,
A mi ar fyn'd i'r
bythol fan;
Ond maddeu'r hyn
' aeth heibio mae,
A rhoi rhagllaw nerth i barhau.
Rho 'ngorph i gysgu lawr dan len
Heddwch yw'r glustog
fydd i'm pen;
Tra bo' angylion Duw o hyd
Yn gwilio cylch fy ngwely clyd.
Ni wiw i'r byd na'r
ddraig a'i hîl
Fy mwgwth fwy
a drygau fîl;
Mi gaf yn ddigon diogel fyw
Dan nawdd adenydd
f'Arglwydd Dduw.
Tryw ffydd 'ryw'n gryf
yn d'enw Dad,
A'th bresennoldeb byth na mâd;
Ac yn y boreu gad im' gael
Prawf newydd o dy gariad hael.
Felly pan ddêl nôs angau hîr
Fy ngnawd a orphwys dan y tir,
Nes dêl dy lais
i'm codi o'r bedd
Ac yn ei swn, im' felus hedd.

Thus far on my side God stood
Thus far he gave me an age to live;
And every evening still I am getting
A new experience from his
generous mercy.
I wasted my time many a part,
And I am about to go to the
everlasting place;
But forgiving that which
has passed he is,
And giving beforehand strength to endure.
Put my body to sleep down under a curtain
Peace is the pillow which
my head shall have;
While the angels of God be yet
Keeping watch around my cosy bed.
It is not worth either the
dragon or his race
Threatening me any more
with a thousand evils;
I shall get sufficiently safely to live
Under the protection of
my Lord God's wings.
Through faith I am strong
in thy name, Father,
And thy presence shall never leave me;
And in the morning let me get
A new experience of thy generous love.
Thus when the long night of death comes
My body shall lie under the earth,
Until thy voice comes to
raise me from the grave
And in its sound, to my sweet peace.

Thus far the Lord hath led me on,
Thus far His pow'r prolongs my days;
And ev'ry evening shall make known
Some fresh memorial
of His grace.
Much of my time has run to waste,
And I, perhaps, am
near my home;
But He forgives my
follies past
And gives me strength for days to come.
I lay my body down to sleep;
Peace is the pillow
for my head;
His ever-watchful eye will keep
Its constant guard around my bed.
In vain the sons of
earth or hell
Tell me a thousand
frightful things
My God in safety makes me dwell
Beneath the shadow
of His wings.
Faith in Thy name
forbids my fear;
O may Thy presence ne'er depart!
And in the morning may I bear
Thy loving-kindness on my heart!
Thus, when the night of death shall come,
My flesh shall rest beneath the ground,
And wait Thy voice to
rouse my tomb,
With sweet salvation in the sound.
