Gobaith cyr(r)au eitha'r ddaear

(Dymuniad am Obaith cywir)
Gobaith cỳrau eitha'r ddaear,
  Wrthyt dysgwyl f'enaid gwan;
Rho i mi'r gobaith
      ni ch'wilyddia, -
  Gobaith da trwy ras i'm rhan;
    Gobaith bywiol,
  Ddalio'n wrol hyd y nef.

O! am obaith gwyn'fydedig,
  Sylfaenedig ar y Graig,
Ddalio 'ngwyneb poeth bicellau,
  Erchyll ddrygau'r gyfrwys ddraig;
    Gobaith gano,
  Pan fo'n curo angeu du.

Gobaith buro'm henaid euog,
  Dduw trugarog! dyro im';
Cadarn angor ar y cefnfor,
  Gadwo'n ddidor
        byth mewn grym;
    Fel b'wy'n canu
  Mewn goleuni draw i'r bedd.

(Request for true Hope)
The hope of the world's utmost corners,
  For thee waits, my weak soul;
Give me the hope
      that shall not disappoint, -
  A good hope through grace for my portion;
    A lively hope,
  That endures bravely as far as heaven.

O for a blessed hope!
  Founded on the Rock,
That endures in the face of hot spears,
  The hideous evils of the crafty dragon;
    A hope that sings,
  When black death be striking.

A hope that purify my guilty soul,
  Merciful God, give to me!
A firm anchor on the ocean,
  That remains unceasingly
        forever in force;
    Thus shall I be singing
  In light beyond the grave.
