Duw cariad yw Ei enw Ef

(Paratöad i'r Nef)
Duw cariad yw Ei enw Ef -
Addawodd imi deyrnas nef;
  A dysgodd f'enaid hedeg fry -
  Mae yn Ei fynwes le imi!

Partoed Ei râs fy enaid i
I ddedwyd fro y nefoedd fry;
  Mae yno wynfyd llawn, didrai,
  A phur ogoniant i barhau.

Pan ddysgwyf nabod
    iaith y wlad,
A phêr ganiadau tŷ fy Nhad;
  Dechreuaf gân am farwol glwy,
  Na chlywir diwedd arni mwy.

Tôn [MH 8888]: Gilead (Bristol Tune Book 1863)

(Preparation for Heaven)
God, love is His name -
He promised me the kingdom of heaven;
  And taught my soul to fly above -
  In His breast there is a place for me!

May His grace prepare my soul
For the happy region of heaven above;
  Full, unebbing blessedness is there,
  And pure glory to endure.

When I learn to know
    the language of the land,
And the sweet songs of my Father's house;
  I begin a song about a mortal wound,
  The end of which is nevermore to be heard.
tr. 2019 Richard B Gillion

He is a God of sovereign love,
  That promised Heav'n to me,
And taught my thoughts to soar above,
  Where happy spirits be.

Prepare me, Lord, for Thy right hand,
  Then come the joyful day;
Come, death, and some celestial band,
  To bear my soul away.
