arglwydd yr hên grëedigaeth a'r newydd.)
Duw, beth oedd dyn, pan gynt y gwnaed;
Adda o hil y llwch a gaed,
I ti ei osod ef a'i ryw,
Ond 'chydig îs nag angel Duw?
I ti ddyrchafu ei natur ef,
A'i wneud yn arglwydd pawb îs nef;
Gwneud anifeiliaid, hediaid clau,
A'r pysgod iddo ufuddâu?
Ond pa ogoniant mwy nâ'r haul
Fydd yn coroni Adda'r ail?
Pa barch a
haeddai'th Fab o hyd,
Am blygu o hono
i eni i'r byd?
Is nâ'i angelion ef a wnawd,
Bu yn y bedd â'i wedd yn dlawd:
I achub dynolryw o'u tra,
Mewn nerth teyrnasu etto wna.
Y byd a ddaw'n ol ei ryddâu
O holl drueni'r cwymp yn glau,
Fydd hardd a newydd yn y nef;
Wrth draed yr Iesu 'mostwng ef.

lord of the old creation and the new.)
God, what was man, when of old he was made;
Adam from the race of the dust was got,
For thee to set him and his kind,
But a little lower than God's angels?
For thee to raise his nature,
And make him lord of all beneath heaven;
To make animals, swift flyers,
And the fish obey him?
But what glory greater than the sun
Shall be crowning the second Adam?
What reverence would
thy Son always deserve,
For bowing from it
to be born for the world?
Lower than the angels he was made,
He was in the grave with a poor appearance:
To save humankind from their wrongdoing,
In strength reign again he shall.
The world to come after being freed
From all the misery of the fall quickly,
Shall be beautiful and new in heaven;
At the feet of Jesus it shall submit.

lords of the old and new creation.)
Lord, what was man, when made at first,
Adam the offspring of the dust,
That thou shouldst set him and his race
But just below an angel's place?
That thou shouldst raise his nature so,
And make him lord of all below;
Make every beast and bird submit,
And lay the fishes at his feet?
But, O! what brighter glories wait
To crown the Second Adam's state!
What honours shall
thy Son adorn,
Who condescended
to be born!
See him below his angels made;
See him in dust amongst the dead,
To save a ruined world from sin;
But he shall reign with power divine.
The world to come, redeemed from all
The miseries that attend the fall,
New made and glorious, shall submit
At our exalted Saviour's feet.
