Cyfododd Crist yr Arglwydd

Cyfododd Crist yr Arglwydd!
  Y newydd rhown ar daen;
Chwilfriwiodd rwymau'r beddrod,
  Er sicred oedd y maen;
Gorchfygodd nerthoedd angau
  Ar fore'r trydydd dydd;
Enillodd fuddugoliaeth,
 A dug y caeth yn rhydd.

Cyfododd ef! cyfododd
  Er ein tragwyddol hedd;
P'le mae dy golyn, angau,
  A'th fuddugoliaeth, fedd?
Caethgudodd ef gaethiwed,
  Dug inni roddion rhad;
A daeth i wawrio arnom
  Oleuni'r nefol wlad.

Cyfododd ef! cyfododd!
  Agorodd byrth y nen;
Esgynnodd mewn mawrhydi
  I'r llys tu fewn i'r llen;
Ar orsedd ei ogoniant
  Teyrnasu mae yn awr;
Y nefoedd gorfoledded,
  A llawenhaed y llawr.

Tôn [7676D]: Bala (Rowland H Pritchard 1811-87)

Christ the Lord arose!
  Let us send abroad the news;
He shattered the bonds of the tomb,
  Although the stone was secure;
He overcame the powers of death
  On the morning of the third day;
He won a victory,
 And set the captive free.

He arose! He arose
  For our eternal peace;
Where is thy sting, O death,
  And thy victory, O grave?
He took captivity captive,
  He brought us free gifts;
And the light of the heavenly land
  Came to dawn upon us.

He arose! he arose!
  He opened the portals of the sky;
He ascended in majesty
  To the court within the curtain;
On the throne of his glory
  Reigning he is now;
Let the heavens be jubilant
      And let the earth rejoice.
