Beth yw'r melys seiniau glywaf?
  Clychau aur Caersalem fry.
Beth yw'r tinc y dôn hoffusaf?
  Diolch gân y nefol lu.
Yn yr uchelderau cenwch
  Felys odlau cerdd yn rhydd,
Nos wylofain, o cydfloeddiwch,
  Arwain wnaeth i olau dydd.

Pwy sy'n gorwedd yn y preseb?
  Anfeidroldeb rhyfedd iawn.
Pwy all ddirnad ei diriondeb?
  Gabriel na, er maint ei ddawn.
Ei amgyffred Ef nis gellir,
  Goruwch nef a daear yw –
Y mynyddoedd oll a dreulir
  Erys ein Meseia gwiw.

Pwy mewn gwael gadachau rwymwyd?
  Tragwyddoldeb dim yn llai.
I ba beth y'i darostyngwyd?
  Er mwyn codi euog rai.
Cyfrin bydoedd a olrheinir;
  Daw'r dirgelion oll heb len,
Erys un nas llwyr ddatguddir,
  Wedo elo'r byd i ben.

Pwysa enaid, beunydd arno,
  Person dwyfol ddynol ryw,
Cadw, cynnal, cydymdeimlo,
  Yw melusaf waith Mab Duw;
Rhoi ei hunan dros yr aflan,
  Dyna wnaith er garw loes,
Mentraf innau, Iddo f'hunan,
  Fel yr wyf wrth droed y groes.

What are the sweet sounds I hear?
  The golden bells of Jerusalem above.
What is the tenor of the fondest tune?
  The heavenly host's thanksgiving song.
In heights sing ye
  Sweet rhymes or verse freely,
A night of weeping, O shout ye together,
  Lead it did to the light of day.

Who is lying in the manger?
  Very wonderful infinity.
Who can discern his tenderness?
  Not Gabriel, however great his talent.
He cannot be grasped,
  Superior to heaven and earth he is -
All the mountains shall be worn away,
  Our worthy Messiah shall endure.

Who in poor nappies was bound?
  Eternity, nothing less.
For what was he humbled?
  In order to raise guilty ones.
The mystery of worlds shall be traced,
  All the secrets shall become unshrouded;
One shall remain not completely revealed,
  When the world comes to an end.

Lean, soul, daily upon him,
  A divine person of human kind,
Keeping, upholding, sympathising,
  Is the sweetest work of the Son of God;
Giving himself for the unclean,
  That is the work despite harsh anguish,
I too shall venture, to him myself,
  As I am at the foot of the cross.
