Anfeidrol Ior Jehofah mawr

Thou God of glorious majesty

1,2,3,4,5,6;  1,3,5.
(Ystyriaethau yr Edifeiriol)
Anfeidrol Ior Jehofah mawr,
Gwrando ar lais pechadur mawr
  Hyd attat sydd a'i gri.
Clyw Arglwydd gwyn fy enaid gwan,
Cyn myned i'm trag'wyddol fan,
  Dadguddia'th hun i mi.

Tosturia wrthyf nefol Dad,
Tyr'd attaf mewn trugaredd râd,
  Cyn treulio f'einioes frau;
Yn gyflyn iawn myn'd 'rwyf tu a'r bedd,
Gâd im' adnabod Duw a'i hedd,
  O Arglwydd tyr'd yn glau.

Mae môr diderfyn i'm bob tu
A minnau ar y geulan ddu,
  Dideimlad iawn yn bod;
Mewn ennyd fer, mewn munud awr,
'Fe'm ceir i byth yn uffern fawr,
  Neu'n canu uwch y rhôd.

'Fe ddaw, 'fe ddaw yr arswyd ddydd,
Gad im' ei wel'd drwy olwg ffydd,
  Crist ar yr orsedd wen;
Ai llawen hyfryd fydd fy mhryd;
Ai dedwydd ran geiff f'enaid drud,
  Pan ddelo f'oes i ben?

O Dduw argrapha'n ddwfn iawn,
Ar f'enaid mewn llythrennau llawn,
  Nerthoedd y byd a ddaw;
Dychwel fy enaid ar dy lûn,
A dysg a thyws fi dy hun,
  Nes delwi'r ochr draw.

A'r pryd y derfydd im' ar llawr,
O derbyn fi fy mhrynwr mawr,
  I'th bûr lawenydd cu;
Troir ffydd a gobaith yn fwyn hâd,
O hael fendthion cariad rhad,
  Mewn cân trag'wyddol fry.

Tôn [886D]: Croeshoeliad (alaw Gymreig)

gwelir: Fe ddaw fe ddaw'r arswydus ddydd

(Considerations of the Repentant)
Infinite Master, great Jehovah,
Listen to the voice of a great sinner
  Whose cry is unto thee.
Here, blessed Lord, my weak soul,
Before I go to my eternal place,
  Reveal thyself to me.

Be merciful to me, heavenly Father,
Come to me in gracious mercy,
  Before my fragile life be spent;
Very quickly I am going towards the grave,
Let me know God and his peace,
  O Lord, come speedily.

I have an endless sea on both sides of me
And I am on the black bank,
  Being very unfeeling;
In a short while, in a minute,
I shall be found forever in great hell,
  Or singing above the sky.

It comes, it comes, the aweful day,
Let me see through the vision of faith,
  Christ on his white throne;
Shall delightfully joyful be my mind;
A happy portion shall my poor soul get,
  When my lifespan comes to an end?

O God impress very deeply,
On my soul in full letters,
  The strengths of the coming day;
Return my soul to thy image,
And teach and lead me thyself,
  Until I come to yonder side.

And when I expire on the earth,
O receive me, my great redeemer,
  Into thy pure, dear joy;
Faith and hope be turned into enjoyment,
By the generous blessings of free love,
  In an eternal song above.
tr. 2018 Richard B Gillion

Thou God of glorious majesty,
To Thee, against myself, to Thee,
  A worm of earth, I cry;
A half-awakened child of man;
An heir of endless bliss or pain;
  A sinner born to die!

Be this my one great business here,
With serious industry and fear
  Eternal bliss to ensure;
Thine utmost counsel to fulfill,
And suffer all Thy righteous will,
  And to the end endure.

Lo! on a narrow neck of land,
'Twixt two unbounded seas I stand,
  Secure, insensible;
A point of time, a moment's space,
Removes me to that heavenly place,
  Or shuts me up in hell.

Before me place, in dread array,
The pomp of that tremendous day,
  When Thou with clouds shalt come,
To judge the nations at Thy bar;
And tell me, Lord, shall I be there
  To meet a joyful doom?

O God, mine inmost soul convert!
And deeply on my thoughtful heart
  Eternal things impress:
Give me to feel their solemn weight,
And tremble on the brink of fate,
  And wake to righteousness.

Then, Saviour, then my soul receive,
Transported from this vale to live
  And reign with Thee above;
Where faith is sweetly lost in sight,
And hope in full supreme delight,
  And everlasting love.
