Gen 17:7; Rom 19:8; Mk 10:14.) A very generous and gracious promise Was given to Abraham and his seed; "To thee and thy see I shall be God, "I will satisfy thy needs of every kind." His kind promises for evermore From age to age shall endure; Christ, the Angel of the Covenant, is Sealing the blessing still for us. Jesus is confirming the faith That was given to our fathers in their day; Little children to his bosom he receives, He calls them the heirs of heaven. How faithful are the ways of our God, And his love the same enduring it is; Since from the great promise of his grace He has not removed the children's name.tr. 2025 Richard B Gillion |
Gen. 17.7; Rom. 15.8; Mk 10.14.) How large the promise, how divine, To Abram and his seed! "I'll be a God to thee and thine, Supplying all their need." The words of his extensive love From age to age endure; The Angel of the cov'nant proves, And seals the blessing sure. Jesus the ancient faith confirms, To our great fathers giv'n; He takes young children to his arms, And calls them heirs of heav'n. Our God, how faithful are his ways! His love endures the same; Nor from the promise of his grace Blots out the children's name.Isaac Watts 1674-1748
