Capel y Ddôl - Carol Nadolig 1916
Dyma'r dydd y gwelwyd Iesu
Yn y preseb gwae1 ei drem,
Ac angylion Duw yn canu
   Uwchben meysydd Bethlehem,
      Canwn ninnau
   Gyda'r Engyl gwynion Duw.

Er mai preseb oer difoliant
   Gafodd Ef yn faban gynt,
Pan yn dyfod o'r Gogoniant,
   Tua'r ddaear ar ei hynt,
      Holl allweddau
   Tragwyddoldeb sy'n Ei law.

Deuwch engyl eto i ganu
   Uwch ein hen ryfelgar fyd,
Cenwch wrtho am yr Iesu
   All dawelu'r brwydrau i gyd,
      Yn y moliant
   Uned holl deyrnasoedd byd.

Chapel of the Valley – A 1916 Christmas Carol
Here is the day Jesus was seen
   In the roughly-made manger,
And God's angels singing
   Above the fields of Bethlehem,
      Let us sing
With the blessed angels of God.

Though the crib be coldly cheerless
It received Him as a child once,
When coming from the Glory,
Towards the earth on its course,
      All the keys
Of eternity are in His hand.

Come, angels, again to sing
   Above our old warring world,
Sing to it about Jesus
Who can still all the battles,
      In the praise
Let all the world's nations be united.

tr. 2010 Richard B Gillion
