Think back to when Urza's Saga had first hit the shelves. People were rushing to buy it hoping to pull the Timespiral, Stroke of Genius, or the Serra Avatar. These high dollar rares are not quite as versatile or as useful as the following uncomons.
). Turnabout: This cards is awesome. It does cost four mana, but it is a bargin for what the card can do. It is an Abeyance against a counterspell deck. Use it at the end of your opponents turn and force them to waste a counterspell on it. Or use it as a fog and tap all your opponents creatures and lands. Use it for offensive purposes to get your attackers through unblocked. This card also works great when used with Exhaustion. It can stop your opponent.
.) Arcane Lab. One spell per turn. Enough said. Even if you don't use Ertai, this is still a great counterspell card because you only have to conter once a turn. It also hurts big turn decks and if played quick enough can hurt a weenie rush.
). Priest of Gix: A free black creature for three mana. You play the Priest, you get three mana, and with black, this is unreal. It is a staple in every suicide black deck and 2/1 creature. First turn Dark Ritaul, Preist of Gix, Carnopahge, Sacromany x2. Good luck recovering from that!
). The last uncommon I want to rave about is Thran Turbine. Hey quit laughing, you stop it! I am serious. It is a poor mans Vineyard. You can use it well with Cursed Scroll and Phyrexian Processor. It also works great with creatures you can pump with cololess mana. You can use it with Shivan Hellkite to deal damage or pay mana to activate the untap ability of a creature or an artifact. Who's laughing now?
