Endless Reaching


trying and trying is, well, trying
endless reaching creates injury
as constant lack discourages vying
nurturing a necessary apathy

when reward is not forthcoming it divides
lack in one arena forms deficit in two
there is such multiplicity in pain, besides
scarcity’s searching blinds us to true beauty

the house, perhaps a bit to large, but so?
there is still much toward to strive
too much lack shrinks delight’s capacity
making it hard to stay alive

so, enjoy your slender blond
as you walk across her like a lawn.
