Attract Me

I walk alone upon the sidewalk
With no intention of direction
Aimlessly, I continue my pointless journey

The windows of shops slowly pass
With a glance into each
I continue on with no evident interest

Upon one window, a glance becomes a stare
From within is a subject
Which my eye is unable to escape

Tis a girl of incredible beauty
Obviously with correct morals
Her cross hangs from her kneck expressively

She has an unbashful humor about her
Her nonverbal mannerisms speak
The other girls point enviously at her

I must meet her, profess to her
That I look upon her
With an odd attraction I can't explain

Could I really actually tell her this
"Dead Poet's Society" comes to mind
Carpe Diem, Seize the day, go for it

I fling the door open, never stopping my feet
My heart pounds nervously
Am I really going to...there's no stopping now

I walk quickly to her side
Take her rough hand in mine
And loudly profess my feelings to this stranger

She overlooks me with no expression
With a sort of arrogance
Could she honestly have nothing to say

The spectators laugh at my misfortune
And my heart sinks deeper
My face is red as the scarf upon her shoulders

What have I done here today
I am to hang my head
My professed love is my embarassment

For you see, my lady's beauty is false
This girl who attracted me so
Was merely but a manican in the window
