Parker City Landmark Comes Down
April 2000

The demolition of the old Parker City water tower has been completed.

Tuesday...IT WILL NO LONGER HOLD WATER.

For a short while we had a 2 tower skyline.
From one mile east...with a zoom lens.

Wednesday

Rigging the cables and the top has been cut. Off it comes.

Easy does it. It snags the boom and gets caught.

Whew...we're breathing again. It is pretty big after all.

Thursday and Friday was a rainout.
Saturday and Sunday was great but no work was done.
Monday was too windy but Tuesday was full steam ahead.

Last piece of sidewall.   Al cutting last upper section of leg.

Last piece of tank bowl.   It comes down.

All by himself, Al was the only one on the tank. The ground support crew operated the cranes and cut up and hauled away the pieces. The final pieces were cut up on Wednesday evening.
The new tower can be seen in the background.
