CONTEST SPONSORSHIP:
This contest is being run solely by Gaslight Playhouse Theater, Kendallville, Indiana, and its Board of Directors. Both judging and awarding of prizes is the sole responsibility and privilege of Gaslight Playhouse Theater Prize package(s) will be provided and executed by Gaslight Playhouse Theater -- funded in part by corporate and individual sponsors, as will be listed on the project website and in advertising media.

CONTEST DATES:
Contest begins February 1, 2008 and runs through July 1, 2008. Entries MUST be postmarked by July 1, 2008. Winner(s) will be announced on or before October 1, 2008.
TWO (2) Grand Prizes will be awarded as follows:

Cash prize will be delivered/postmarked to TWO (2) winning playwrights BEFORE November 1, 2008;

Copyright application for TWO (2) winning scripts -- with fees -- will be submitted/postmarked to Copyright Office of U.S. Library of Congress BEFORE December 1, 2008;

Production date(s) will be scheduled BEFORE February 1, 2009, and winning playwrights will be notified promptly of intentions for production;

Advertising for winning plays will begin AT LEAST 21 days PRIOR to scheduled production run.

ELIGIBLE ENTRANTS/PLAYWRIGHTS:
This contest is open to legal residents of Indiana only. Potential winners will be at least 14 years old by July 1, 2008, and STUDENTS in good standing -- enrolled in either an Indiana HIGH SCHOOL OR COLLEGE -- for the 2008-2009 Indiana school year. All entrants in the contest verify this to be true by submitting their entry. Contest winners may be required to provide such a statement in writing, with legal signature, along with other proof of Indiana resident/student status to Gaslight Playhouse Theater, subject to independent verification before prize(s) are awarded. Winning playwrights will be required to sign a document allowing Gaslight Playhouse Theater all rights to produce the winning play ROYALTY-FREE for a single run in 2009, in order to receive their prizes. PLAYWRIGHTS WILL RETAIN THE COPYRIGHT TO HIS/HER SCRIPT, SOLELY. All entrants in this contest, by their participation, verify that they have read the rules and eligibility requirements.

SCRIPT REQUIREMENTS:
Gaslight Playhouse Theater reserves the right to eliminate from consideration any scripts that do not comply with any one or all of the requirements below:

All entries MUST be in the ENGLISH language, without typographical or spelling errors. Scripts must be usable without editing or re-compiling.
All entries MUST be typewritten in the proper, industry-standard format. Please download "format instructions" provided (linked on MAIN PAGE). Then download this document with which to create a formatted template!
All entries MUST be 100% original and unpublished, authored by the (ONE) individual submitting the script.
All scripts must be ONE-ACT, non-musical plays under 75 minutes long. Cast size should be 4 to 12; limited to one or two (2) simple sets.

JUDGING:
Entries will be judged by committee, comprised of several members of the Board of Directors of Gaslight Playhouse Theater. This committee's decisions will be final.
