Where do I send my script and application?:

Please mail them to Promising Playwrights, P.O. Box 574, Avilla, IN 46710.
If you are part of a student group, check with your teacher or advisor as it's possible for arrangements to be made for mass delivery of script/application collections. In this case, ONE representative of the student group (preferably the teacher/advisor) should contact us to make such arrangements.
DO NOT EMAIL SCRIPTS TO US!
They will be deleted upon receipt with NO notification to you.


Can I submit a script co-written with a friend?:

No. Entries submitted MUST be authored by one person alone -- YOU. It must be entirely original and copyrightable to ONLY you.


Will there be any cost to me for entry in this contest?:

No*. There is no entry fee... and Gaslight Playhouse Theater, with assistance from corporate sponsors, will finance the production(s) and all related costs.
*There is NO cost to you beyond paying postage for mailing your entry to us.


Is there any particular kind of script you're looking for?:

Not really, no. Gaslight will NOT produce a play wherein the actors would be required to be nude on stage, or to engage in excessive lewdness or vulgarity... but we are otherwise open to most any plot/setting. Just keep in mind that we will select scripts which we believe will have broad appeal to audiences. We wish to entertain, and NOT deliberately offend.


Will I have creative control over the production if my script wins?:

Probably not a lot... UNLESS you have proven producing or directing experience, and your ideas do not directly contradict the "vision" of Gaslight's board of directors. But we WILL sit down with winners to discuss their scripts, and will seriously consider any ideas, concerns, and/or preferences of the playwright before production begins.
