The group started in 1993 with Shaznay Tricia Lewis and Melianie Blatt. Both girls 21 years old, had a contract at ZTT records. Their first single was "If you wanna party". Shaznay and Melanie didn't think the group was complete so they hooked up with two new friends from school: Nicole & Nathalie Appleton born in Canada.
