Preps and Punks by Max Payne

Recently, I was mocking a fellow student about his alterable personality and perspective on life by calling him a prep. This person respectively asked me to define the word 'prep'. Well, buddy, here ya go.

Webster defines a prep as a person whose manner and dress are deemed typical or traditional modern style. A close friend of mine says, "a prep is someone who thinks highly of themselves, so high in fact, that they think they are better than most people," he goes on to say "someone who is considered popular by the majority of his/her acquaintances, because of their hobbies, personal interests (such as music, etc.), and clothing style."

I find both of these definitions to be semi-right, but mostly wrong. I define a prep as someone who thinks they are better than others, follows the crowd in what interests they may have, and has their own imperialistic viewpoints on common fashions and lifestyles.

Most preps I know are followers, racists, sexists, and most importantly, persons who watch MTV and take the words of Carson Daly as a gospel. These people are common, know-nothing, losers without a sense of style or personal thought. They take the world for granted and don't care for anyone else but themselves and the people who join them in their materialistic, self-absorbed universe.

By recent statistical polls and information, preps believe they are doing the right thing and have more power over most anyone. These truths have been proven by a numerous amount of so-called preps at CC.

As I mentioned before, they are racist. Most say I am racist for commenting on fellow students cultural differences. Well guess what, some racial slurs are meant to be jokes, and after certain people confronted me on the problem they had with my jokes, I stopped. I have the utmost respect for everyone (unlike preps). If you say something to me, I will stop immediately. If you laugh along, I think you are with me on the jokes. I aim to please with laughter. If you find something funny, I stick with it to please you. Your pleasure lets me feel comfortable and have a feeling of pride. I like that feeling because I know people like me for who I am. You preps are racist in the fact that, if someone is different, then you take advantage of them and feel they should be put down. Not racist in skin color or ethnicity, but racist in that whoever is not like you, you consider to be different and inequal. Equality is key for survival.

On to 'punks'. To preps, we are mortal enemies. We see them for who they are. They are scumbags. Future communists, that they are wanting to take over the world and make it what they are. They want everyone to be like them. They believe the ideal person is them. Everyone should do what they do and how they do it. That is why they separate themselves from others. Because they don't want to be associated with people who have lower standards than they. Preps are the definition of communists. They are popular in the sense that they rule people, they think that people should be this way and that.

Punks are enemies because we believe in equality. Some call us hippies or peacemakers. Well that's exactly what we are in the definition of the word. We don't want war, we don't want communism, we believe in creativity and uniqueness. I believe in being a leader, not a follower. Preps don't go as far as punks do. Punks grow up to be leaders of businesses and scientists or inventors. Professors and possibly world leaders. Preps are athletes paid to entertain, like circus freaks. Preps are dirty, lying politicians. Punks lead rebellions and win Nobel prizes. Preps lead cults and win guiltful satisfaction in taking advantage of others.

Preps are considered to have school spirit and join athletic programs. Punks do, too. We have just as much school spirit. Maybe we don't join sports because we are learning to lead rebellions against schools. Rebellious thinking leads to world leadership and big bucks. Preps are defined as losers who sit at home and watch TRL and Real World, when in fact they would join the real world by riding a bike, eating a sandwich, or sitting on their lazy butts at their computers.
