First, if you haven't already read my "What is html" I strongly recommend you reading it. First let's open a notepad. Copy and paste the lines below.
<html>
<head>
<title>HTML DOCUMENT 001</title>
</head>
<body bgcolor="999999" text="FFFF00">
<p>I can do this</p>
</body>
</html>
From Notepad to to File>Save As save in: Desktop, name is test.html . Then go to desktop, double click on testing and observe the file.
Let's learn some of the language. At the top of all html files, their should be a "<html>", that tells the browser this is a html file, and will be a html file until it reads "</html>". The "/" in front of the command inside the carrot (< or >) tells the browser that this is the end of this command. The head command is optional, i just added it there to show you that you could use it if you wish. The "<title>" displays all of the text between "<title>" through "</title>" You will notice I typed "HTML DOCUMENT 001" for a title. The title is what is displayed at the very top left of the window, in the title bar.
The <body bgcolor="#999999" is pretty self explanatory. I'll go over it. "body bgcolor" is the color of the back ground. The "=999999" is simply the value of the RGB (Red, Green and Blue) value. As well as the "text="FFFF00""
"<p>" just means paragraph. When you make a paragraph don't forget to add a "/" in the last carrot. ie. "</p>" It's that simple.
Expierment with what I tought you. Don't move on untill you know this section very well. Don't be like some people and have a pice of paper with the "<title>" notes. It will only hurt you in the long run.
