Frustrated - Part 5

by roslyn74

Not wanting to go to the small general store in the immediate area, Logan drove an hour to the nearest chain drug store. He wasn't really in the mood to drive for so long in the rain but people knew him at the general store and he didn't want anyone he knew seeing him buy maxi pads. Nope, a two-hour round trip seemed like a small price to pay for anonymity. Wiping the rain from his face, Logan walked through the front door of the cabin to the sight of his fellow teammates lounging in front of the television. Turning to Jubilee, he tossed her the paper bag he carried under his arm. Catching it, she jumped off the couch and gave Logan a big hug.

"Thanks Wolvie. You're the best".

"Don't mention it kid". Still in the embrace, he dropped his voice so only Jubilee could hear. "I mean it kid. Don't ever bring this up. Not to anyone do you hear me?"

The others quietly observed the exchange with curious looks.

They watched as a smiling Jubilee turned and ran up the stairs.

"What's dat about homme"?

"Nothin' Cajun. Jubes just needed me to pick her up something from the store is all."

Walking over, he sat in the seat beside Ororo. Kicking his boots off, he propped his feet up on the coffee table and casually wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "So what's this? Some impromptu team meeting?"

Laying her head on his shoulder, Ororo immediately relaxed and fitted her body to his. "No. Everyone was tired of being cooped up in their rooms so we decided to have movie night instead"

As if validating the point, Hank and Jean walked out the kitchen with bowls of popcorn and chips. Strategically distributing them around the room, the two servers found their respective seats. Grabbing the nearest bowl of popcorn, Logan alternated feeding himself and Ororo.

"So what's on the venue for the night"?

"Well, sugar we couldn't all decide on one movie. So we compromised. We're going to watch the eighties marathon on the cable network. We girls will get to watch Pretty in Pink and…"

Remy looked Logan in the eye. "Why didn't you tell Remy they made a movie about you mon ami"? Remy's quip caused a small amount of muffled laughter from some of the others and earned him Logan's ire.

Unwrapping his arm from around Ro, Logan inched to the edge of the loveseat and popped the claws on one hand. "Not funny LeBeau. Keep it up and I'll give you somethin' to laugh at".

"Logan". Ororo pleaded resting her hand on his arm and pulling him back against the seat. "Please, we are trying to have a pleasant, relaxing night".

"Tell that to Gumbo Ro. I ain't gonna sit here and put up with his crap". His growling tone told her he was deadly serious. Ororo knew Logan's frustration was boiling over. She prayed a small prayer to the Goddess that Remy would use his empathy and sense that it was best to leave well enough alone for once. Ororo sighed as she looked at the twinkle in Remy's red on black eyes. Nope, he wasn't going to be sensible and let it drop. Leaning back into the plush chair, she folded her socked hands into her lap and resigned herself to the fact that her two favorite men were about to throw down.

"Ow, chere! Why you hit Remy"?

"'Cause swamp rat it ain't funny no more. You don't know when to quit sugar. It was either I hit you or Logan run you through with his claws". Pushing a white strand back to mix with her auburn ones, she stared at him for a moment. "Ororo's right. We're trying to have a pleasant evening here and you ain't helpin'".

Logan sat back in his seat and looked at Ro. He noticed her folded arms and the set of her jaw. 'Damn. She's pissed. Good goin' canuckle head you know how much she hates it when you loose your temper. You know what you have to do.'

Propping his feet back up on the table he cleared his throat. "Look, I'm sorry if I ruined everyone's evening". He gritted it out through his teeth with an effort. As if saying the apology caused him physical pain. In truth, he didn't really understand why he was the one apologizing. All he knew was his Ro was mad at him and this, at least he hoped, would make everything better. 'Hell', he thought to himself, 'men say sorry all the time to women with out knowing why'. 'If they can do it, so can I'.

He accepted the answering choruses of "Don't worry about it and that's okay" from his friends with a shrug. He even got an apology back from Remy. Not that he didn't appreciate them but he found himself holding his breath waiting for Ororo's response. He stared at her for a moment eager to see if all would be forgiven. Reaching over she finally smiled at him, taking his arm she placed it around her shoulder and settled back into him. He couldn't help grinning like a madman. His Ro forgave him and all was right with the world. He allowed himself the pleasure of running his fingers through Ro's silken strands of hair. "So Rogue what was that you were sayin' about a compromise? We ain't gonna watch chick flicks all night are we"? The other men came to attention interested in hearing the answer to the question Wolverine posed.

"Course not sugar. Where's the compromise in that? Like I said it's an eighties marathon. After Pretty in Pink, Big Trouble in Little China comes on. I think that ought to have enough action and fightin to keep you guys happy".

Not interested in watching Molly Ringwald and a bunch of teenage yuppies running around in Miami Vice blazers with their sleeves rolled up, Logan turned his attention to Ororo instead. The room was darkened, the only light coming from the television and the small fire that blazed low in the fire place, but with his excellent night vision that was more than enough to allow him to study her.

Logan's attention was drawn to her lips first. If ever a pair of lips were made to be kissed, they were hers. He watched with a small amount of envy, as the tip of her tongue darted out and licked lips that were slightly dry from the salty popcorn. He wanted to kiss those lips. He wanted to take her tongue into his mouth and kiss her breathless. He wouldn't of course. Not while they were surrounded by their nearest and dearest.

Shifting in his seat a little as the blood began to run to parts of his body below the waist, he turned his gaze to her mesmerizing blue eyes. He watched as they sparkled and twinkled as the light reflected off of them. He shifted his gaze upward to her perfectly arched eyebrows. Logan watched as one cloud color brow slowly lifted itself above the other one. He smiled. He had been caught.

Ororo had been watching the movie when she felt Logan's stare.

Turning her attention to him she was surprised to see the intensity with which he was studying her face. She was about to ask him what was wrong when he smiled at her. The sweet almost innocent smile took her by surprise and all she could do was smile back.

Pulling her as close as possible to him, Logan nuzzled her ear with his nose. Inhaling the scent of her hair, he let a small, barely audible growl escape. "God, you smell good enough to eat".

His hot breath tickled her as he whispered into her ear. She squashed the small giggle that built up in her. Leaning further into his embrace, she allowed one socked hand to leisurely stroke the inside of his thigh as the other one reached up and held the hand that lay casually on her shoulder.

His jeans were becoming more and more uncomfortable by the minute. Grabbing her roving hand, he lifted it from his thigh and placed it back in her lap. He didn't fail to see the bewildered look she gave him. "Just don't want to go for another dip in the lake is all darlin'".

With a smile she whispered back, "you won't have to". "The pill Hank gave me turned out to be a miracle cure. Everything but the rash on my hands his cleared up". She watched as her words slowly registered on him.

"You mean…"

Sitting up out of his embrace she nodded. Taking his hand, she began to stand. In a soft seductive voice that only he could hear she said, "come on Wolverine. Let's go work off some of that frustration".
