Diamond In The Rough, Part 13

by Majestrix Verone Windrider

It was a Friday afternoon, two days after her second date with Logan. Ororo had to admit, he did more than set her body on fire. He warmed her heart and made her feel beautiful and worth protecting.

Ororo smiled as she picked up her bright blue cell phone and dialed Logan's number.

"Hello?" Ororo's heart leapt.

"Hi Logan, it's me Ororo."

"Ororo! It's great to hear from you so soon. What's going on?"

"Well, I think you realize that you've left your jacket here. Would you like me to drop it off?"

"I thought I left it over there, but I didn't want you to think it was just a ploy to see you again." He laughed. "But thanks, I mean, if it isn't a problem."

"Logan, anything to do with you isn't any trouble at all." She said shyly. "Besides, I'm going out to do errands."

"Sounds like fun. Do you want company?"

"That would be great. Can you be here in ten minutes?"

"Yeah, I don't live that far. Redwood Pass." Logan said as he ran a cob through his wild hair.

"Redwood Pass? I think I jog near there at times… I can't wait to see you." Ororo confessed, picking out a pair of diamond studs.

"It's nice to be missed." He ran down his stairs, towards his car. "I'll be there shortly."

"Okay, see you then."

"Bye." Ororo hung up the phone and ran her brush through her hair quickly until it gleamed. Letting her mind wander, she started humming a song she couldn't quite remember by Lighthouse. "I'm falling even more in love with you…" She stopped when she realized what she was saying.

Logan pulled up to Ororo's house with only two minutes left to spare. Parking near a silver sports car, he hopped out and rang the doorbell.

"Logan." Ororo smiled as she opened the door. He enveloped her in a hug, reveling in the feel of her in his arms. She kissed him softly, smiling as Logan tightened his grip around her waist. She pulled back as she felt herself almost fly apart. "Sweetie, we don't have the time for this. Let's go." She turned, closing and locking the door. He then noticed what she was wearing.

Crimson track pants with a yellow stripe sliding down the length of the pants emphasized her long legs, flaring at the bottom. Her shirt was a canary yellow, short sleeved and midriff baring. When she turned around, he saw it was a clingy V neck, showing modest cleavage. On the sleeve was the Japanese word for beauty. Ororo smiled at him. "Do you like what you see?" She kidded.

"Oh yeah." Logan grinned as they got into the silver sports car. As they pulled out he asked, "So, what's the first stop?"

"Dry Cleaners. I have to pick up a gown for Elizabeth. She's getting married, and I'm her maid of honor." Ororo maneuvered the speedy car through traffic.

"Elizabeth who?"

"Braddock. Of Braddock Shipping." She let down the top, the warm wind catching her hair, making it spin and twirl behind her like a silver banner. "Will you come with me?"

"They wouldn't mind?" Logan asked as he relaxed under the Californian sun.

"Warren's orders were to find myself a date, so I doubt they'll object." Ororo laughed slightly. She bogarted her way through the pre rush hour traffic and pulled into a posh looking dry cleaners. Not turning off the car she got out. "I'll be right back." Logan nodded acknowledgement as she rushed inside, her yellow sketchers squeaking softly on the pavement.

"Now, we're off to the video store." Ororo said, donning a pair of mirrored glasses.

Logan looked on the backseat and saw two tapes. Reaching back, he picked them up and read the titles. "Mission Impossible Two and The Best Man. Mission Impossible was good, but I couldn't go and rent a movie called The Best Man." Logan snorted.

Ororo smiled. "It was a wonderful movie, and very funny." Her smile was cut off as someone ran a red light, almost causing an accident. "Damn idiot!" She yelled, and Logan, after donning his seat belt, laughed uproariously. "It's not funny Logan! We could have been hurt."

"Just calm down. I was laughing at the look on your face darlin'. You pilot this thing like a jet." Logan leaned back into the sun as Ororo's laugh and a cool breeze flowed over him.

"Logan…Logan?" He was gently shook awake, opening his eyes to see Ororo's concerned face and beautiful cleavage. "How long was I out?" He asked, sitting up to hide his emerging erection.

"It took about ten minutes to get here, and I watched you sleep for about three minutes." She said, smiling softly.

Logan couldn't help but grin. "you know, you owe me a favor now…"

Ororo grinned evilly. "We'll see." She kissed him and took the movies. "Are you coming in?" She opened her car door. Logan shrugged. "I could use a good movie." He got out of car as Ororo put the alarm on.

"No porno!" She teased. He growled at her playfully. As they walked into Blockbuster, he was painfully aware of the lusty gazes of the male customers.

He didn't like them, but he wanted to see how Ororo handled it. On top of being naturally possessive, Jean didn't help the situation by flirting with anything wearing pants. If Ororo was like that, then he'd be walking back to his car.

After a couple of minutes, it was clear that Ororo wasn't paying attention to all of the attention she was receiving. Male workers would repeatedly ask if she needed assistance just to look down her shirt. Logan would glare threateningly, Ororo would laugh, and the offenders skittered away nervously.

She grabbed his hand as they picked out movies. Ororo smiled as she found the one she wanted. "I love this movie!" Logan looked at the title. A Walk In The Clouds." He blanched. "That's not a movie."

"Then what is it?"

"It's a chick flick."

"It has a man in it Logan. It's romantic, is all."

"He's not really a man." Logan smiled and flexed. "Not like me."

"Well, I can't deny that…" Ororo smiled as she trailed off. She had been imagining him naked almost the entire trip…

"I'm going to get a horror movie. Now that is great entertainment." He started pulling her in the direction of the Horror Section.

"Logan, I'm not going over there!" she protested.

"Why not?"

"Because! I don't like scary movies. Blood. Gore and corpses. Not my idea of a fun time."

"How about I make you a deal. If you watch my movie, I'll watch yours." Logan grinned. "At my house."

Ororo thought for a moment. "It does seem that this would be the perfect chance to repay my debt to you…"

"Yes…"

"Under one condition though."

"Name it."

"I cook dinner for you." Logan pretended to be horrified. "Logan!"

"I'm kidding. I would love for you too cook for me. I mean, you can cook right?" He said teasingly.

"I guess we'll find out, huh?" Ororo laughed at the look on his face. "Come on."

"So, where are we going now?" Logan asked as they pulled back into traffic.

"The grocery store. I'm taking a large guess in thinking you don't cook much." Ororo laughed as he shrugged in the affirmative. "it's no problem. Now you can tell me your favorite dish."

"Sweet and Sour shrimp with snow peas, Orange chicken and fried rice." Logan answered without hesitation.

"Well…I've made orange chicken before, as well as snow peas and fried rice. Do you have a wok?"

"Yeah, that I do have. Victor tried to make toast in it." He glanced at Ororo, who was looking at him strangely. "Hey, don't ask me."

She shook her head in amusement as they pulled into the parking lot of the store.

"Okay," Ororo aid as they pushed a buggy through the aisles. "We'll need to go to the meat department first and get chicken tenderloins cut."

"Why don't you just buy a chicken and cut it?" Logan asked.

"Then we'll find the orange marinade." Ororo said, ignoring Logan's comment. He grinned and poked her in her side. She let loose a half scream, half laugh, and turned around. "Don't do that! I'm very sensitive."

"You mean ticklish. I'll do that if you ignore me again." Logan smiled at the look of defeat on her face.

"Ugh, I can't take you anywhere!" She joked as Logan's arm settled around her waist. They walked in relative silence as they shopped for the ingredients.

Back in the car, Ororo headed back to her house. "Okay, I'll drop you off and you go ahead and go home. I need to drop this dress off and take a shower." She looked at Logan.

He nodded. "Good, because I need to make sure my house is clean…" Logan laughed.

"Okay, I'll come over at about eight. Is that alright?"

"Perfect."

"Great." She maneuvered her car through traffic, soon coming back to her house. Ororo stopped the car at Logan's, leaning over to kiss him. He trailed the line of her collar, creating goose bumps on Ororo's flesh. "Logan! You're mean. I've got to go. Get out."

"Is this the way you're going to treat me?" Logan grumbled good-naturedly as he got out. "See you then."

"Bye darling." She blew him a kiss and promptly roared down the drive.

Logan walked to his car and got in. Thinking back on the day, he realized he had fun. Not normally what he would have done with his day, but he had fun with Ororo. Her smile had to be brighter than the sun, and someone he was actually comfortable being silent around.

Jean always seemed to think she had to fill in the silence, with music, talk, or something. He started up the car and drove home. He had a lot to do before Ororo came over.
