Come Closer Chapter 3

Chapter 3

It is so insane it works, two people from two different worlds, but put them together and they make the atom bomb look like a firecracker. If seven months ago you had told Ororo Munro that she would be holding Logan aka Wolverine in her arms she would have laughed at your absurdity and stormed, or in her case, flew away.

But how can feelings ever be absurd?

She had lived a solitary life, after the death of her parents she refused to ever love someone again. She stole, she lied, did whatever it took to get by and then returned to a lonely apartment, clutched her pillow to her chest and cried herself to sleep.

She thought it would be easy to part herself from the world, live in a universe where only herself mattered, but the heart is a funny organ. It drew itself to her like a moth to a flame and she was powerless to it because deep inside, below the pain, sadness, and fear she wanted it.

She wanted someone to love her again, wanted someone to care. Some people often have wondered, "If I were to die, would anyone really miss me?" and for most people the answer to that question, whether they realized it or not, was yes. But for Ororo the answer was no. She had felt as if she had jumped off a cliff and had no powers to break her fall.

Then she met, tried to rob, Charles Xavier, and overnight her whole life changed. He was the father to her she had longed for for so long. He gave her unconditional love, support, and often in her life was her anchor. But as she grew, and her powers grew, his love wasn't enough anymore.

She needed more, wanted it, thrived for it like a junkie does his next hit. As with drugs it was never enough. She went from relationship to relationship, flirted, had sex with, more people then she cared to remember and it was never enough. Men, women, the need grew inside of her and began to consume her piece by piece until she fell apart.

That shell shocked girl is who most see today, quick to listen or help in anyway as long as it doesn't involve her. Helping others is safe, the more she gives the more the need is suppressed, the safer she feels.

Everything was working for her until Logan.

Now the need is back stronger then ever and it is only when she is near him that its eyes close in sleep. Only around him can she be herself and oh what a glorious feeling freedom is.

She stands there now in the circle of Logan's arms, the need sleeps and she just basks in the beauty of the night. The calls of the animals, the breeze softly ruffling her hair and especially the company she keeps.

She hears him speak her name and looks into the swirling of colors and emotions present in the depths of his eyes.

No words are spoken as his head is lowered to hers and her arms lock around his neck, they're not needed.

He pulls back slowly and as she braces herself for the coldness she's sure to feel return to her soul she is surprised to find only peace.

"Well first base and only the second date, how far will I get tomorrow on our third?" He asks smugly and yet with apparent amusement.

"Is this your way of asking me out again?" she is surprised by his shy smile in response. He just looks so cute like that she can't resist and leans in for another sweet kiss before whispering in his ear, "If so it's a yes."

Logan seemed to fight an internal battle with himself before finally shrugging and giving in and picking Ororo up and twirling her through the air.

Mutually the two figures pressed closer together. Their arms crushed the other body to theirs, trying to melt together, trying to melt into each other's souls.

The wind began to collect and intensify around them as the animals joined in a cacophony of sound. The two floated higher and higher into the night sky as the moon illuminated the two in her soft glow.

Pulling back before the passion could over take them the two released lips and just floated gazing into each other's eyes. Their arms and legs stayed entwined and they let the sounds and feelings surrounding them lull them into a comfortable peace.

Not needing words to fill the silence came in especially useful for the duo, allowing them to just drink in the other's company. The two forces of nature just breathed in the other's smell, burned the other's features into their brain and luxuriated in the previous unfelt motions that now flooded them.

The two figures noticed the moon's quiet descent into the horizon and with matching weary sighs realized their night was coming to an end.

The wind began to calm down around the two and resettled them on the ground as the animals returned to their dispersed balance of sound.

The hands-tightly-clasped duo strolled back into the mansion with dreamy smiles evident on their faces. They reached Logan's room first and even though Logan stepped to continue passed it Ororo stopped him with a hand on his arm.

"Logan, here's your room," before Logan could protest she silenced him with two fingers on his slightly swollen lips.

"I can make it back to my room just fine. Thank you for the delightful evening though Logan, it meant very much to me." She raised her head and gave him a chaste kiss. "Good night Logan," Logan gazed at her with an unreadable expression on his face before shaking his head to clear it and replying, "Night 'Ro."

He was so unwilling to have to remove his eyes from her beautiful figure that he opened the door with his back towards it. As the knob turned Logan was so caught up in his thoughts he stumbled backwards. He cursed himself for his stupidity and wished he could relive the moment. As Ororo's muffled laughter drifted to his ears he immediately took that thought back.
