Beginnings (teaser version)

"This self inflicted exile is ridiculous," Ororo exclaimed as she slammed the door of his bedroom.

Logan tossed a pair of jeans into his backpack and turned to face her. "I thought that this would be best considering everything that's happened.

"Do not be ridiculous, Logan. This is your home, and we are you family."

Logan zipped his backpack and pulled on his jacket. "Really? And I supposed that everyone trusts me not to turn back into Death." He paused. "I see how the others look at me. I can smell their fear, and they have every right to feel the way that they do. Until I can control this... this thing in me, I can't be trusted."

"I trust you with my life. I always have and I always will," she stated simply. "Then you're a fool, 'Ro. Death is here," Logan angrily said as he pointed to his chest. "Just waiting to get out."

Ororo reached out and grabbed his hand. "Is Death so different from your struggle to keep the beast inside? Is this so different from the storm that rages within me?" Logan jerked his hand from her and pulled on his backpack. "Don't do this, Storm. If there was another way..."

"So you consider yourself to be a threat to everyone?" Ororo questioned as she crossed her arms.

"That's what I've been trying to tell ya." Wolverine answered.

"Then I shall come with you," Ororo said as she opened the door and stepped into the hall.

"Ororo,..." Logan began.

"You just admitted that you are a threat to everyone. Surely you do not expect me to allow you to wander around alone. I will be ready in 30 minutes," she turned to leave, but suddenly she stopped. "And do not even consider leaving me."

"I don't know where I'm headed or how long I'll be there," Logan growled hoping to convince her to stay at the mansion.

"Then I will be sure to dress comfortably," Ororo answered as she took flight upon a breeze of her own creation.

Logan slowly shook his head as he watched her fly up the stairs leading to her attic loft. He could easily leave her, but for some reason he found himself heading up the stairs behind her to help her pack. Besides if Ororo wanted to spend the next few months baby-sitting him, who was he to complain. He smiled as the thought grew more appealing. This could actually turn out to be fun.
