We have arrived at this junction in our lives because infertility has caused us to take an unexpected turn. Beyond all else, we desire a child to love and raise as our own. It has occurred to us in our struggle to become pregnant that it is possible that adopting a child is what God has always intended for us.
Whether or not you decide to allow us to raise your child, we are confident that some day, we will be parents, and good ones at that. This confidence is borne out of our desire to be parents as well as our acknowledgement of what a gift a child would be in our lives.
If you do decide to bless us with your child, what can we guarantee for your child? That your child will be loved by us as if he/she were our flesh and blood. That your child would have food, shelter, and the promise of education. That your child would be encouraged and supported as he/she pursues his/her own hopes and dreams. That your child will be disciplined for the sake of guidance, rather than punishment. That your child will grow to understand the importance of loyalty, honesty, hard work, good fun, communication, family and love.
We have envisioned some form of an open relationship with the birthparents. The extent of this relationship would depend entirely on your comfort level. This may mean simply the exchange of pertinent medical information, or the exchange of pictures or letters, or quite possibly phone calls or visits. Truly, this relationship will evolve over time. We assuredly will strive to do our best to meet needs of the birthparents, and certainly the needs of the child, in this relationship.
