SIMMED WITH ADAM AS MYN, ALISON AS WES, SHELONEI AS DOC, VICKIE AS HOBBIE
Myn was out in the hanger, flying his toy X-wing around. Someone needs to get a TIE so we can dogfight, cause this is fun...! He proceeded to buzz a few of the mechanics with the toy, causing them to look back at the man and shake their heads. Murmers of "typical Rogue..." floated back to him, only causing his grin to widen.
His comlink began to buzz. "ALL ROGUES, REPORT TO BRIEFING ROOM EIGHT IMMEDIATELY."
"Oh man," Myn grabbed the toy X-wing out of the air, and headed back to his quarters. "Why does this always happen when I'm having fun?" he muttered.
*
Wes lay fast asleep on his stomach on the bed, snoring loudly. The comlink buzzed, and the orders came through. He slapped at it with his hand. "Siiiiith...."
He sat up in the bed, holding his head. Looking at the painkills on his bedstand, he picked up the bottle and took one.
Getting to his feet, he palmed open his bedroom door. "Hey Hobbie? You home?"
His boot-clad feet crunched on broken pieces of glass. He jumped back, "Sith!" Looking down, he recognized the bottles as being several smashed lum bottles. His roomate never drank this much unless he was utterly upset and depressed. "Oh sith, Hobbie... why didn't you wake me up...?"
He headed to Hobbie's bedroom and palmed the door open. It was empty, and a cursory look told him that the bed hadn't even been slept in.
Shaking his head, he walked back out, and saw Hobbie's comlink on the table beside the couch. "Oh great. Maybe Doc knows where he is." Pocketing the comlink, he exited the room... still dressed in his wrinkled clothes from the previous day.
*
Myn put up his toy X-wing and walked out of his quarters, talking to himself. "Doc hasn't been to any of the sims or meals today, maybe I should get her." He changed course mid-step and headed toward her quarters.
Wes left his room and looked up to see Myn rounding the corner. "Hey Donos?"
The Corellian looked up. "Yeah, Wes?"
"You seen Hobbie at all?"
"No. Have you seen Doc today?"
Wes ran a hand through his sleep tossed hair. "I just woke up."
"Oh. It'd be kinda hard for you to see her, I guess. Haven't seen either of them today, especially Doc. She didn't show up for the sims."
"That's not like her," Wes said as he pressed the buzzer on her door. "Maybe she knows where Hobbie is?"
"Maybe."
*
Wily stood 'sentry' before the bedroom door, having closed it after Hobbie and Amanda fell asleep in the early hours of the morning. He quickly rolled over to the door and let them in, tootling quietly, but angrily, for them to hush.
"Okay Wily.... We will."
The droid let out a low whistle, and backed up to let them enter.
Wes looked from the droid, to Donos, and back again curiously - then he remembered that Donos could understand droidspeak.
"Hey Wily, do you know where either Hobbie or Doc is?"
The green astromech whistled quietly in a droid's equivalent of a laugh, then swirled his dome to point toward the bedroom.
Myn looked at the bedroom and muttered, "Son of a sith!"
Wily squealed quietly in alarm at Myn's outburst, rocking back and forth.
Wes stepped up behind Myn, looking around curiously.
"They're in the bedroom, Wes."
"Both of them?"
"Yeah."
The droid whistled an accompanying affirmative.
"Uhm," Myn scratched the back of his head. "Wily, could you get them for us?"
Wes shook his head, "Let's hope they are both alive...."
"Yeah."
The droid tootled for them to follow, and began to head for the bedroom.
"It's probably best if we wait here."
Wily tootled back at Myn, telling him that if he was so worried about Doc to be there at such an odd hour last night, he really should see this.
Their comlinks beeped again, with a second sending of the same orders. "ALL ROGUES, REPORT TO BRIEFING ROOM EIGHT IMMEDIATELY."
"Okay Wily," Myn finally followed him.
The droid went over and extended a jack to key the door open.
"Want me to wait out here?" Wes asked from the entryway.
Myn looked in the door and grinned. Amanda and Derek lay fast asleep, she still curled up in Hobbie's arms, a slight smile on her tearstained face. Both were still fully dressed, boots and all, and the two of them leaning up against the headboard. Her comlink, switched off the previous day, lay on the floor by the dresser.
"Nah, Wes, you have to see this."
The Taanabian moved up behind him and looked in, then smiled. "This... this is good...."
"Very good, Wes. Very good."
Doc stirred in Hobbie's arms, and slowly, stiffly, sat up. Blinking the sleep from her eyes, she looked up to see Myn and Wes. "G'morning," she half mumbled sleepily, and guiltily, as she rubbed the eye-crispies away.
He slid his arms more tightly around her, mumbling in his sleep.
"'Morning, young lady," Wes said.
Myn grinned. "'Evening, you mean."
"Morning's whenever you wake up," she smirked at him.
"Well, you have a point there," he laughed.
Wes just shook his head.
"So, Doc, you know we have a briefing?"
Her eyes widened. "We do?!" she almost shouted in her surprise before bringing a hand up to hold her throbbing head.
Hobbie's arm was thrown to the side as he woke up. "Huh? Wha'?" Hobbie blinked and looked around him, "Uhm..."
Doc scrambled out of the bed, then tripped over some of the empty bottles and fell, barly catching herself on the edge of the bed.
Wes chuckled.
"Wes, we're the designated drivers."
"No liquor for a week. You've both created messes in the respective apartment quarters."
"I'm not drunk," she pouted, then held a hand up against her head as she carefully made her way to the door. "Just.... Hung over. I'm all out of caf-boosts too." She shrugged, "As far as the no drinking for a week, I don't mind, as long as I get my Whyrens winnings."
Myn winced when she mentioned the hangover. "Wait, I can get Clink to bring you some." He pulled out his comlink and signaled Clink to bring a few caf-boosts to Doc's room.
"Someone want to clue the sleepy Rogue in on what's going on?" Hobbie asked from where he still sat on the bed. "And will you stop that incessant ringing."
Doc resisted the urge to ring the small bell on her dresser, and looked back at Hobbie from where she stood near the bedroom door. "Briefing."
He looked back at her, "Ah."
"Actually, Hobs, you might want to clue the two of us in," Wes said.
"Uhm...."
"Well, Wes, the whole thing might be a lot more complicated than you think."
Doc patted Myn on the shoulder as she passed by on her way to the 'fresher. "Thanks for last nite...."
He grinned, "You're welcome Doc. The caf-boosts are on their way."
Hobbie crawled out of the bed, "I need a shower...." He pushed past Wes and Myn and headed into the livingroom.
"So do I," Wes rejoined, "but we have a briefing."
Hobbie looked at Wes with near-closed eyes. "You just get up too?"
"I think Hobbie knows," Myn said to Wes quietly.
"I know what?" Hobbie asked without really stopping to listen.
"Follow me, Wes," Myn walked to the bedstand where the Lifeday picture stood.
Doc returned from the fresher, catching the end of the conversation as she grabbed her brush from atop the dresser. "About Ton," she offered as she left.
Myn nodded, "Yeah."
"Oh." Wes scratched at his head and yawned.
Myn sighed, and heard Clink tootle a greeting as he rolled into the quarters. "Good, just what the Doctor ordered."
*
Hobbie stopped in his tracks and went over to Amanda. "Are we?" he shrugged, hoping she would know his meaning.
She nodded slowly, "I think so."
"I'm glad," he smiled down to her.
She frowned as she tried to work out the sleep-tangles. "I think maybe I'll just cut it all off...."
"No, don't," he said softly, reaching out one hand to brush her bangs away from her eyes so he could see them. He then turned, heading for the door. "See you at the briefing."
With a sigh, she gave up on trying to untangle it completely, opting for getting it untangled enough to rebraid. She began to do so after tossing the brush into the 'fresher.
Clink opened a compartment showing the caf-boost packets. Hobbie grabbed one from Clink as he passed by. Doc headed over to get one from him.
"Looks like all three of you need it." Myn commented.
She took the packet adn downed it's contents while making a face. Then she looked back at Myn as her headache began to clear. "Three?"
"Yeah. Wes, you need one to wake up."
"No. I need a shower, but we have a briefing so... afterwards."
She chuckled. "That's an abuse of caf-boosts," she shook her head. "Come on slowpokes, we have a briefing...."
Hobbie swallowed his packet's contents as he left the quarters. "Gah, that sucks...." He palmed the door open, and then he was gone.
Still braiding her hair, Doc headed for the door as well.
"Yeah," Myn grinned as he followed her out. "I think they're a little old from when I went on a drinking binge after the last of the Wraith missions."
Wes brought up the rear, Clink on his heels with the last caf-boost packet. "I DON'T NEED IT!" he bellowed.
Wily trailed along behind Clink. He closed and locked the door to the apartment-quarters, then scooted up to trundle along beside Doc.
Clink tootled and looked at Myn. "Clink, just leave him alone."
Hobbie ducked into his room.
Amanda growled to herself as she skipped a strand in the braiding, then unbraided her long hair to start all over again.
After everyone had passed his room, Hobbie exited, his comlink in his pocket, his hair brushed neatly back.
She stepped into the lift and held it open as she waited for everyone else. Her hair hung freely over her shoulder for the moment. Myn entered the turbolift first, followed by Wes, who leaned his head back against the lift wall and closed his eyes.
Hobbie entered the lift just after the two droids, looking worriedly at Wes.
Myn patted Clink on the head, "You'll get an oil bath for that." Clink tootled. ABOUT TIME
She smiled uncertainly up at Hobbie before quickly turning, letting the lift doors close while keying in the level for the Briefing Room Eight.
Wily whistled to Myn, asking him to remind Hobbie that he's owed an oil bath too.
"Hey Hobs... you know that you owe Wily an oil bath, right?"
Wes started snoring and Myn elbowed him, causing the Taanabian to jump and blink a few times.
"Wake up Wes...."
Hobbie's brow furrowed a moment in thought. "I do?"
Wily whistled that it was because Hobbie promised him one when he let him into Doc's bedroom the previous night.
"He said that you promised," Myn indicated the green astromech.
Clink whistled something at Wes. I TOLD YOU SO, YOU CRAZY PILOT YOU.
"Uh sure, yeah, whatever." Hobbie turned to Wes, "Are you okay?"
"I'm just not awake yet, that's all," he rubbed his eyes.
"Did you take more of those painkills?" Hobbie asked.
"That stuff makes you drowsy, doesn't it?" Myn asked.
"Just one," Wes told them. "Back's still a bit stiff."
Doc's ears perked at the beginning of the conversation, and now she spoke. "If your back's still bothering you, I can schedule another dip...."
"Good luck," Hobbie muttered.
"I don't need a dip," Wes growled.
Suddenly afraid of the tone in Wes' voice, Doc backed up against the doors.
Myn smiled, "If you get a dip we can get you a girl... or at least attempt to."
Wes sighed in relief as the doors opened, and he pushed his way out. "I don't need a dip."
Myn stuck his tongue out at Wes as he followed him out the door, Hobbie on his heels.
"Back off, Myn. He could drop you in a moment," Hobbie told the Corellian.
"Yeah," he sighed, "I know. Blasters would be fun though."
"He could still beat you."
"Of course in my line of work, if I need to resort to hand to hand, I'm dead already."
Doc frowled slightly as she lagged behind, Wily at her heel. Wes HATES painkills... she frowned in thought.
Clink went back from Myn and followed Wily behind Doc. She didn't look up as she headed toward the Briefing room, the two droids trailing in her wake.
Myn grinned, They're drafting....
*
Hobbie dropped back to walk beside Doc. "I'm sorry about last... er, this morning. It was wrong of me to barge into your room like that."
She just shrugged, still worrying about Wes. Maybe he's just finally learning to take doctor's orders....
His brow furrowed. "Uhm..." what could he say? He'd said it all last night, hadn't he?
"Even if it was wrong, I don't want to think about if you hadn't-" she broke off in thought.
"May I ask you a question?"
She shrugged, "You can ask."
"Was the letter Wes accidently sent you what caused..." he trailed off. This was going all wrong.
"My binge?"
Hobbie shrugged.
She shrugged in response and looked at the ground, shoving her hands in her pockets as they walked. Her left hand fiddled with the laser-scalpel she always kept there.
"I..." he wanted to turn around and bang his head against the wall.
"A lot of things happened yesterday," she said quietly.
"I'm... sure they did," he replied softly.
Amanda sighed as they trailed along behind Myn at a distance that would afford them some privacy as they spoke. Wily moved up to roll beside her for a moment, and she absently brushed her fingers across his dome before putting her hand back into the pocket. He moved back, and trundled along quietly beside Clink.
Hobbie wanted to hear her voice, so he tried to start up a conversation. "You know, I don't think Wily would have let me in to see you if he hadn't been so worried."
"He's a good droid," she told him. "Very... alive."
"...and if I hadn't been so drunk," he mumbled.
She looked up sharply. "You were drunk?"
He stopped and blushed. "Uhm, after I got back from talking to you in the Gardens, I kinda.... Well, it doesn't matter now."
"Hn..." she looked away.
"I just... I wanted so much to tell you how I feel but..." he paused. "I was... afraid." He'd said it so quietly, she could barely hear him.
Still fiddling with the laser scalpel in her left hand, she took her right out of it's pocket and quietly took his in hers. "Me too," she whispered.
His hand had been shaking, it was even more so now. "I just... I.... I want you to be happy."
Feeling his shaking hang, she squeezed it lightly, reassuringly. "I don't think I know how anymore," she said quietly. "But with you... maybe I can learn to be."
A broad smile spread across his face. "You really think so?"
"I want to...."
He looked down into her eyes. As always, he got lost in their darkness. "I want to as well. I... I love you, Amanda."
I feel like when you came to me, it was my last chance.... She looked back at him, smiling softly. Then she turned and kept walking, her small hand in his, leaning her head against his shoulder.
He sighed happily, clasping her hand tightly. This had turned out much better than he expected.
