FROM SIM WITH SHELONEI AS DOC AND SECURITY, ADAM AS MYN, ALISON AS WES, COREY AS WEDGE, MIKE AS MIKE, VICKIE AS WILY, ISA AS GAVIN AND REILIN
Doc Anreson had invited a few of the Rogues to help her pack her things up for the move to her new officer's quarters. She sighed as she started repacking her things. "Sure, I get halfway done unpacking, and now I've got to pack again.... Where ARE those guys?!"
Just then, Myn Donos walked in. "Oh, so I see now.... We're the mules."
"Think what you like Myn," she said with a smirk. "You can help pack too, you know."
He grinned, "No problem, Doc."
Wes Janson walked in and saw some boxes piled up near the door. "Great, just out of bacta and you want me to lift stuff. Some doctor...."
Wedge Antilles was right behind him, and stepped in quietly. Doc looked up and saw him. "You decided to help too?" she smiled.
Then she clapped her hands, "Alright boys, here's the plan. There's curios on the dresser, holos on the wall, and a few drawers of datacards left to be packed. I'll get my clothes," she chuckled.
Myn grabbed a box, "I guess I'll get the holos." He looked back, "Of course, I can get the rest if you just want to stand there," he said sarcastically.
"Can't I help with the clothes?" Wes put a hand to his back in mock pain.
"Thanks Wes, but no thanks," Doc chuckled. "I'll get the clothes."
With a sigh, he grabbed Wedge. "You hold the box, I fill it, okay?"
"Sure," Wedge said as he headed over to the data-drawers.
On the wall by her bed were several still-holos. One of her as a child, with a childhood friend. Another of her with her very blonde, adopted family. There were a few of her friends in med-school, and on the Medical Frigate she worked on at Endor. Finally, there was a holo of her sharing a kiss with someone at a lifeday party, a black ribbon attatched to the edge of the frame. [ Holo]
Before packing them up, Myn looked at the holos. His eye caught one near the head of the bed, the one with the black ribbon. "Wait, I recognize this guy..." Looking closer, he exclaimed, "That's Ton!"
Biting her lip, Doc quickly started packing up her clothing.
Wes turned, "Ton? Ton Phanan?"
Myn turned to look at Doc, "You knew him?"
She waved a hand dismissively, "Worked with him for a while, yeah...."
"Huh..." Myn shrugged puzzeledly.
When Wedge picked up a box, he turned to look at the holo himself.
Myn grinned, "Yes, The Wit. Dangerous combo... with Face." He started with the other holos first, and put them into the box.
Wes went and grabbed the holo of Ton. "Let me see!" He took a look, then looked up at her, "Doc, you got a thing for dour blondes, don't you?"
She simply shrugged, and kept packing.
When Wes pulled the still-holo off from the wall, a sheet of folded flimsy fluttered to the ground from where it had been stuck behind the holo.
"Such memories of those times, right Wes?" Myn said just as he saw the note fall, and he picked it up. He unfolded and read it. It was dated five weeks after the Battle of Endor.
The decision I've reached is the sort that a lot of thought has gone into. I assure you, it wasn't easy to make.
I believe it would be best for us if we did not see each other again. It's not anything you've done, Love, but something in me has died and I'm not the man I was. I can see no future for myself, and I have no right to ask you to stay with someone like me... someone who is only half organic. You're young, you're beautiful, and you won't have any trouble finding a match for yourself. You'll move on and you'll do fine, you're strong like that.
You deserve a beautiful life, 'Manda, and you deserve better than me. I care too much about you to impede your chances at happiness.
I probably flatter myself to think that you even care whether I go or not - you'll probably be glad to be rid of me. I hope not though, because I will always remember you fondly.
Because of Love,
Ton
She took the note and set it on the floor beside her as though it was no consequence. Then, she returned to packing, without a word.
"What'd it say?" Wes wanted to know.
"Nothing," Doc mumbled.
"Nothing really," Myn put in almost protectively.
"Come on, tell me," the Taanabian pressed.
Doc finished her box and went to stack it along with the others by the door. Wes dumped an armful of the heavy discs into the box Wedge held, causing the Corellian to have to readjust it in his arms.
Myn sighed, "It was basically a break-up letter," he said quietly. "Because Ton believed he had no future."
"Now, why would you go and break up with a guy like Ton, Doc?"
"I didn't, Wes," she growled back. "Excuse me, I have some things to pack in the 'fresher." She nearly ran in her retreat to do so.
"Ton wrote it," Myn said. To himself, he mumbled, "He had more of a future than I did at the time." With a sigh, he organized the still-holos into the box, thinking about his time as a Wraith.
Wedge looked into the box he was holding, "Sure are a lot of datacards here...." One of them caught his attention, as he seemed to recognize it. "Hmmm." Wedge set the box of 'cards down on the floor and, crouching beside the box, he picked one up and studied it. On first cursory examination, it looked like a death notice.
With a sigh, Wes walked over to the 'fresher. "You okay in there, Doc?"
"I'm fine Wes, just packing!" Her voice was muffled, and held the destinctive near-breaking sound of someone who had been crying.
Myn looked up and grinned at Wes, "Give her the 'You can't look dignified while you're having fun' speech."
He palmed the door open, "You're a bad liar."
She had her back to him, and was furiously packing, and repacking a small toiletries case. "Didn't your Momma ever teach you to let a lady be when she's in the 'fresher?!"
"She also told me never to let a lady cry by herself."
"I'm no lady, I'm a Rogue. Now go away, Wes," she half growled at him.
"As you wish," he half turned and walked away as Doc continued her furious packing.
"This is from me," Wedge spoke softly to himself. He glanced into the box, and all the other datadiscs looked like un-read letter-discs. And all were addressed to 'Dr. Ton Phanan'. After a moment, the connection made itself clear in his mind.
Curious, Myn went over to see what Wedge was looking at. "I thought you only sent one of those to Face." Something caught his eye beside the box, it was the flimsy note from Ton.
He picked it up and went back to put it back behind the holo of her and Ton. Carefully, he put it into the box. "Uhm, so Doc, where are you exactly moving to?"
"Down to the officer's level," she called back from the open 'fresher.
He nodded to himself as he closed the box of still-holos. "Okay."
Wedge dropped the card back into the box, and closed it up.
Doc finally calmed herself down enough to go back, and swiped the tears from her cheeks with the back of her hand. She went back into the room, putting the toiletry bag into a box near the door and shutting it. She pulled out some packing-tissue and started wrapping up the curios and knicknacks for another box.
"Thanks guys, for coming to help me pack."
"No problem," Wes worked at helping Wedge pack up the data-discs. "That's what friends are for."
Myn closed the box of holos. "Oh, no problem. Learned some interesting things."
"Like... that I'm a pack-rat?" Doc smirked as she set another curio in her box.
Myn grinned, "That too, AND you knew one of the Wraiths."
"So I've learned."
He pointed to Wedge and Wes, "They don't count. They're tried and true Rogues."
She looked down to the place on the floor where she'd set the note, and had a look of pure panic on her face as her eyes darted around the floor.
"Doc, I put it back with the holo, and it's in the box."
She looked to Myn, and her look softened. "Thank you," she said quietly.
"Not a problem," he told her softly. "I figured that's where you wanted it."
With a nod, she went back to wrapping things up, thinking about what Wes had just said. About them being her friends.
Myn continued, "And I'm not sure how much I count, because I was all messed up then. I'm sure you heard about that, Doc."
"I haven't heard anything about anyone, Myn."
"Hmmm."
"I'm not in the habit of telling personal things about my pilots to other people," Wedge said from where he was helping Wes with another box of discs.
The Taanabian continued packing, looking back at Amanda every so often.
"I know sir, but she's a doctor, and I was in there. But, Wes fixed the problem, so I'm back... well mostly."
Wes' head snapped up, "I did what?"
"Did he?" Doc chuckled. "I should have you as my assistant then, Major."
Wes mumbled quietly, "That's Hobs' job."
"You know that 'you can't look dignified while you're having fun'? That's the Wes Theory of Fun," Myn told her.
"He's right," she agreed. "You can't."
"You should have seen the sled that I'd made."
Stopping in the middle of wrapping up a curio, she turned to look at Myn curiously. "Sled?"
"Yeah, almost crashed a few times. That was before Wedge pulled the ultimate prank."
She half smiled, "I'd like to hear about that."
Wes turned and leveled a finger at Myn, "Don't."
The Corellian just laughed, "I think Wes has a few cheeks to pink with that."
Doc turned to look at Wedge curiously, "YOU pulled a prank, Antilles?"
"Just something I thought up," Wedge gave her half a smile.
"I'm warning you kid," Wes almost shook his finger.
Myn just laughed, "I know you could come up with stuff for me."
She quickly finished wrapping up the curio and set it into the box. Being half done, she turned and leaned against the dresser. "I REALLY want to know, now." She looked to Wedge expectantly.
"It wasn't that good," Wedge told her.
"Hey Wedge, aren't you finished with that box over there?" Wes tried to change the subject.
"It'd be best," Wedge continued. "If Wes told it."
Just before Wes could protest, yet again, Wedge recieved a comm call. He pulled out his comlink and listened silently for a moment. "Sorry, I have to go."
Doc nodded, "I understand, be safe, Antilles."
He nodded, and left.
She turned to look at the Taanabian. "So, Wes. Are you going to tell?"
"Yeah Wes," Myn put in, "You do have first... cheek... experience with that." Wily tootled curiously as the corellian grinned evily. "Okay, Wily. Make sure you record this." With a twitter, the little green and silver droid began to do so.
"Where's Mike with that grav-sled?" Wes went to look out the door for him.
Just then, Ngo came careering into the room, hitting his breaks just as he's about to smack into Wes with the grav-sled, "STOP!"
Wes jumped out of the way, just in time. "Where'd you learn to drive that thing!?"
"You shouldn't have been standing there," Ngo quipped with a grin.
"You should drive better," was the Taanabian's retort.
"Well, Wes, you shouldn't be a speedbump for grav-sleds," Myn pointed out.
Doc turned her head sharply toward Ngo and Wes, "Took you long enough... where've you been?"
Ngo turned to her, and everyone else, vaulting out of the grav-sled. "Sorry fellas, the stockyard guy didn't speak basic."
She chuckled, "Well at least you got here, otherwise we'd have to carry all these boxes down."
"Hee haw...." Myn joked.
"So, if some security guys walk by and ask about some guy with a runaway sled, we don't know what they're talking about," Ngo finished.
"Good, more witnesses to watch Wes get embarrassed," Myn said.
Doc turned, and went back to wrapping up the rest of the curios. "Where's my story?"
"Yeah, Mike. Tell her your story," Wes put in.
She shook her head, "No no no no, I want WES' story."
"You should know all my stories, Doc," Wes told her.
She shrugged, "Apparently not."
"Not this one," Myn said.
Ngo unzipped his flightsuit to the waist and tied the sleeves about it, changing his appearance. He cocked an eyebrow, "Story?"
"Nothing," Wes grumbled. "Let's get the sled packed."
"Myn, Ngo, why don't you two load up the sled, then, while Wes finishes packing up the datadiscs and tells his story and I finish wrapping up these knick knacks."
"Okay, Doc..." Myn grabbed a couple of boxes and made donkey noises as he brought them to, and put them on, the sled.
She couldn't help but chuckle.
"Maybe if I try hard enough, I can make these things levitate," Mike made a face in pause, then grinned, "Yeah right..." With that, he followed Myn's example and began loading the boxes.
"You'd have to be Force Sensitive to do that anyway," Doc commented dryly.
"Even Corran can't do that, Mike - and he is Force Sensitive," Wes picked up the box of datadiscs Wedge had finished with, and put it onto the sled.
Myn stuck his tongue out at ngo, and continued lifting boxes onto the sled, "Cause his family line can't do that really well."
Wily tootled happily in the corner, watching, and still recording.
"Come on Wes, we won't stop bugging you unless you tell us," Doc told him.
"So," he acted as though he didn't hear her. "You guys catch that blast-ball game last night?"
"Did it involve any 'Ultimate Antilles Pranks'?" Doc shot back.
Finding a few boxes that looked rather sturdy, Ngo balanced three of them, one in each hand, and one on his head. Then, he kicked up another, and balanced it on his foot, hopping to the sled.
Doc looked up and chuckled, "Be careful, showoff. Some of that's breakable dishes."
"Well, Myn and I were thinking about having the Rogues form a team, but we need to get Wedge in on it."
"I know, but you need to tell your story."
Ngo set the boxes gently down on the sled and grinned, "See? no need to worry."
"You are very lucky, young man," she shook her head.
"Showoff," Myn muttered.
"What story?" Wes asked innocently, finishing up filling the second box of datadiscs.
"The Tale of the Ultimate Antilles Prank," Myn grinned.
She finished wrapping the final curio and set it gently into the box, closing it tightly. She then secured it with some bonding strips.
"Oh that... it was nothing."
"Well," Ngo said. "Why is it called 'ultimate'?"
Doc sighed in exhasperation. "Okay, then why don't we just let Myn tell us?"
He grinned evily, "And I can add gruesome details."
"Sure," Wes sighed. "Why not. You tell it and I'm giong to get us something to drink." With that, he set the box on the sled and headed down the hall.
"But you must demonstrate it to us again!" Myn shook his head and pulled out his comlink, "You get that last part Wes?"
There was no answer.
Doc sat down on the bed, putting a hand on Wily's dome, he swiveled it to 'look' at her, and beeped happily. She sighed. "Why don't you just tell us, Myn? I'm sure it's very interesting."
"Well, I didn't get all of it, but it started after I got off the sled and headed to downtime. Seems that Wedge was hiding in a box."
"What the sith was Antilles doing in a box?!"
"Part of the prank, Doc.
"Oh."
Ngo shrugged. "Well, boxes can make good espionage tools.... I think."
Seeing a spot on Wily's dome, she rubbed at it with the edge of the bed's blanket. He blatted at her, and she smirked. "Oh hush, you." She patted his dome once the spot was gone, and went back to helping to load the sled. The droid swiveled it's dome to watch the rest of them, still recording.
"They were supposed to feed the Ewok, and they ran into some troubles," Myn continued.
"And?" she asked.
Ngo stood back, listening.
"The Ewok escaped and Wedge and Wes chased it into a storage room."
"Right...." she prompted as she hefted another box up and brought it to the sled.
"But when they went into the room, Wes and wedge got soaked with cleaner solution. And then Wedge told him they had to strip and rub the Ewok food on themselves."
She almost dropped the box she was carrying, and set it down quickly, "Oh no!" she started chuckling.
"Eh?" Ngo looked thoroughly grossed out.
"Wedge went through one door, and Wes went into the other. Wes found the 'Ewok' - it was the stuffed toy that Wes had brought with us on one of our missions with the Wraiths."
Doc was confused now, "Right...." She went to sit on the bed, taking a break before loading the last three boxes.
"The room he found it in, was filled with Wraiths, and other people, who Wedge had told to stand still and do nothing."
Doc started giggling again.
"Oh gods...." Ngo shook his head, trying not to laugh.
"So there he was, quite literally butt naked, in a room filled with people who wouldn't move. And only two ways out."
Just then Wily beeped something, and Doc pulled out her datapad to see what he'd said. *STUPID HUMAN*
She started laughing softly behind her hand.
"He tried both ways, and neither of them worked, until Wedge walked in with his full dress uniform on, and walked straight over to Wes, telling him he was out of uniform."
Both the other pilots were chuckling by now.
"Then he got him a cape that had 'Yub Yub, Lieutenant' on it, and I told him that a wise man once told me that, 'You can't look dignified while you're having fun.' He said that he'd shoot that wise man, but that wise man was him." Myn started chuckling now, "So I wonder, did he ever shoot himself?" He grinned, "But anyways, it turned out that Wedge had figured out that there was a connection between the Ewok and Wes, so he came up with a prank for it. It was quite funny, you would have had to have been there."
Wes walked in with a few lomin ales. "Yeah, and I couldn't get the dang food out from under my nails for a week."
"Eeeeeeew," Ngo turned up his nose at the Taanabian.
Anreson fell back onto the bed, laughing.
"I don't think they ever showed the holovid of it," Myn continued. "At least, I didn't see it. I was flying that sled again. I bet Wedge has it." He thought a moment. "You can always ask him to see it, I don't know though."
She threw an arm over her face, trying to smother her laughter. Myn went back to putting the last boxes onto the grav-sled, a huge smile on his face.
Wes sighed, then winced. "Well, I promised Hobbie I would stop back and check in with him, so I'll be on my way, okay?"
She stopped laughing abruptly, and sat up. "Yeah, of course it's okay."
Just then, Gavin showed up.
"Hey Gav, you just missed us embarrassing Wes," Myn told him.
Wes shook his head, "But I'm sure he'll have fun repeating it for you. See you guys later."
"He heard about it already," Myn said. "He was there."
"Take care Wes!" Doc called out to him.
"Eeeew," Ngo was still thoroughly grossed out, he stepped back so Wes could leave, and cringed jokingly, "See ya Wes."
Shaking his head, Wes left, walking down the hall, and disappearing in a lift.
Doc looked to Gavin, "At least I've got another body to help move me... where you been, Gavin?"
He grinned, "I've been ah..."
Reilin walked in behind him, just then. "Catching up with me, right Gavi?"
The Ralltiirian woman smiled, "Hello, Reilin."
"Hey Doc," the young Darklighter girl greeted her.
"Oh, but the women loved it, Mike... besides, he used the ewok to cover his privacy," Myn chuckled.
Ngo laughed, "Yes, I'm sure they did."
Chuckling, Anreson shook her head. "Poor Wes."
Reilin looked at Myn with confusion, "Huh?"
"Long story, ask Wedge for the holovid."
"Where's Wes going?" Gavin wanted to know.
"To talk to Hobbie," Myn told him.
"Well, the holovid might be too graphic, Myn," Ngo said.
Reilin simply raised an eyebrow.
The doctor winked at Reilin, "I'll tell you later, Kid."
"Wedge and Tych said that it wasn't that bad," Myn pointed out.
Reilin looked at her older brother, "Now I see why you never mentioned these guys in your letters," she said jokingly, wearing a grin.
Waving a hand, Doc got up, grabbing the box of Curios, she set it atop the sled. Then, she grabbed the box of still-holos and set it on there as well. "Wow, I didn't think it'd all fit on one sled."
Ngo glanced past the siblings, and saw a security team snooping about. "Oh sith.... Uhm...."
Anreson chuckled as she watched him looking around frantically.
Gavin smiled, "Cut it out...." he looked at Mike curiously. "...sis."
"Where's a Jedi when you need one?" Myn wondered.
"Probably out doing Jedi stuff," Doc replied.
Seeing the guard, Gavin's hand slowly, and unconsciously, moved toward his blaster. Ngo dove into the grav-sled, hiding under some boxes. "I'm not here," the Corellian whispered as he clumsily hid himself in the boxes, gaining a few bruises.
Reilin stood by, watching quietly.
The doctor went over to the door to her quarters, "May I help you?"
"We saw a young, dark-headed man, tan flightsuit, flying through the base on a grav-sled, you see him? He nearly knocked down five people," The security guard told her.
"I don't think you'll need it, Gav," Myn whispered to him.
The Tatooinian nodded, still keeping his hand near the weapon.
"There are a lot of dark-headed young men around here. What's your point?" Doc shot back.
The second guard looked over her shoulder, "Isn't that a grav-sled you have in there, Lieutenant Commander?"
Reilin moved to stand before the grav-sled, hiding Ngo.
She smiled, the nodded. "Yes, I'm moving to some new quarters."
A third security guard showed up, "Good afternoon, fellas."
Myn nodded to the guards.
The first guard then nodded, "Well, be careful that you don't get run over by that maniac."
By then, the third security guard appeared. "We have reports of an unknown person, or persons, running off from the stockyard with a grav-sled. You see anything suspicious lately, Ma'am?"
The second guard looked at him, "I just talked with the Lieutenant Commander about the same thing - and it's a no go. Let's try up a floor?"
"Well," Doc said. "If you'll excuse me, gentlemen, I'd like to try and get myself settled in before lifeday," she smiled sweetly.
"Okay then, next floor," the third guard nodded. "Move out."
Gavin kept his eyes on the guards as they moved away.
Anreson blew out a sigh of relief, and palmed the door shut behind her. She put her hands on her hips and turned, "You owe me, Ngo."
Slowly, Ngo peeked out from the boxes.
"They're gone, Mike," Donos told him.
Reilin pushed the pilots head down, "No wait, here they come again. Hide." She turned and winked at the others.
"Uhm..." he hid again.
With half a smile at the girl's antics, Doc wondered if there wasn't something going on between the Darklighter girl and Ngo. She grabbed a marker and started writing on the last of the boxes.
"Yeah," Myn sniggered. "They were talking about some maniac. You have to watch out, Mike."
Doc finished labling things. Labeling the boxes for the Kitchen, Livingroom, Bedroom, and fresher. The last three boxes were labled, Still-holos, Discs, and Curios. She snapped the cap back onto the marker. "Okay, done." She peeked down, "You can come out now, Ngo. I don't feel like running you over."
He stepped out. With a shrug, he stepped away.
Reilin laughed. Gavin looked at her curiously, "What are you laughing at, Rei?"
Doc looked at Mike curiously, "Did you just take the sled?"
"Well... I had to jump the outside gate and all, but.... Yeah," he shrugged.
Shaking his head, Myn sighed, "Mike.... You are crazy."
Doc started laughing, shaking her head, and bapped Ngo behind his head. "You nerf!"
Still laughing, Reilin pointed at the black ink written all over the rearend of Ngo's flightsuit. Gavin started laughing. Myn looked at what Gavin's sister was pointing at, and started laughing as well.
He was confused, "Huh?" Ngo turned his head to look behind himself, "Aw...."
Gavin laughed, "Heheheh, uhm... Did you have an accident?"
"Well well well, looks like even Mike has been labled," Myn laughed.
"Come on boys, and girl, let's get me down to my officer's quarters. Sooner I am moved, sooner we can have a party."
Reilin fell back, laughing harder. Curious as to what was going on, Doc moved to look behind him, and started laughing herself. "I knew that tan flightsuit would get you in trouble one day!" she smirked.
He just smiled and nodded, "Yeah yeah... laugh it up."
"Okay," Myn grinned. "We will, Mike. Thanks!"
The laughter in the room died down.
"Oh my..." Reilin chuckled. "That was good."
Ngo looked down at his feet, shaking his head, and still smiling.
"Come on," Doc went to palm the door open.
"So, Doc, where exactly did Mike go in your room?" Myn asked as he followed her.
"Yeah..." Reilin put in.
She shrugged, "Apparently in the sled."
"Oh." Myn said.
"Oh shut up," Ngo grumbled.
The Darklighter girl looked behind him and, seeing 'fresher' written on his rear, started giggling again.
Wily ran up and bumped against Ngo, then put the laser pointer on the sled and whistled.
"Well, you can always take the joke the way it was meant, Mike." Donos paused. "On the cheek."
He sighed, slapping his forehead with a hand. Wily bumped into him again, and he jumped, "Hey!"
"Oh, Wily's just checkin' if it's permanent."
Wily pointed at the sled with the laser pointer, and blatted at him. Ngo looked over at the sled.
"At least I don't think it went through your flightsuit," Reilin pointed out.
"Hopefully not...." Gavin agreed.
"I'm not checking," Doc looked back over her shoulder from where she stood sentry at the doorway, making sure there weren't any more security types around.
Gavin chuckled at Doc's response, "Nor I."
"Is this something that I'll need to bring Clink in with?" Myn asked. "No way I'm gonna check that."
Doc sighed. "Somebody coming with that sled?"
"Don't look at me," Myn shook his head.
"No way," Reilin said as she made her way over to the Ralltiirian. "So, we ready to go?"
"Yes," the other woman nodded. "Just waiting for your brother and Circus-boy."
The younger girl waved a hand, "Gavie, come on!"
"Yeah yeah... Well, I suppose I don't really get bashed on that often by this squad," Ngo said as he hopped into the grav-sled.
"Yeah, especially when we have Wes."
Anreson waited for everyone to leave the room, the others waited expectantly as she spoke to her droid. "Okay Wily, scan to make sure I haven't forgotten anything."
The little droid rolled into the room, and quickly scanned it. It soon beeped a negative, and left to wait by her side. She nodded, then palmed the door shut. "To the lifts!" she pointed in the direction of the turbolifts.
