The young lovers spent a few days
after their marriage in the room given to them. But even young lovers
need
to leave sometime. They had once promised to visit eachother's
homeworlds. What better time than now?
Kyp
looked over at Siee as he finished
stuffing their clothes into the bag. "You think we have everything?"
"I hope so. I don't know what to do about the wedding
dress. It's so beautiful... but it really belongs to Booster... he paid
for it."
"Well,
we could have him box it up
and send it to your home," Kyp chuckled. "And it was a gift. He felt
jipped
when Mirax got married, so we're the surrogates. He'd be offended if
you didn't keep it."
"That's true. I'll ask him to send it. It'll be safe
there. Can't take it to Coruscant or the Academy."
"Sound's
like a plan. Let's go find
him and head out?"
"Sure." She tossed her new duffle bag over her
shoulder,
filled with a few new outfits, as well as nighttime clothes. She picked
up the dress and folded it over her arm.
Kyp
nodded and moved to palm the
door open, as the two headed to look for Booster.
Siee whistled her favorite tune as they walked.
They
found Booster in the control
room of the Venture.
"Ah,
well if it isn't the young lovers! Taking your leave already?"
Kyp
nodded, "Yeah, can't hide out
here forever, you know."
"No matter how much we want to."
"Ah
well - I'm sure you two will come
back and visit," he grinned.
"Now
that I know I can find you? You bet!" Kyp grinned. "Oh, we were also
wondering if you could do a favour?"
"A
favour of what kind, lad?"
"Well, it's more for me."
Booster
smiled, "Anything for you,
Lass. What is it?"
"Well, i love this dress so much, but I can't fold it
up
into the X-Wing. It'll get dirty and everything. Could you possibly
have
it sent to my family on Taanab?"
"Of
course! Just set it on the bar
back there, and I'll have it sent right away." He smiled.
"Thanks Booster." She kissed his cheek, then did as he
said.
"Thanks
again Booster," Kyp shook
his hand. "We'll keep in touch, alright?"
"Probably,"
Booster winked. "You
just take good care of that Janson girl.. and don't let her brother
kill you."
Kyp
nodded, "Sure thing."
~Should we tell him about the kids?~ she asked Kyp.
Kyp's
eyes widened, then he smikled
and nodded. "Oh and Booster?" he called over his shoulder as he
beckoned
Siee to follow hiim out.
"What
is it this time, lad?"
Siee chuckled and kept on her husband's heels.
"We're
having Twins, and it's all your
fault," he called as he slipped through the door, stifling a chuckle.
"WHAT?!"
the corellian roared as he
rushed after them. "What are you talking about?"
"We",
he motioned to Siee and himself,
"are having Twins. And it's your fault."
"How
in nine corellian hells is it MY fault?"
"You told us to go and make babies." she pointed out.
"ANd..."
"You forgot to give Kyp a proper lesson on
contraception."
Booster
looked back and forth between
the two. Then he burst out laughing and swatted Kyp's shoulder so hard
he almost sent the young man flying. "Way to go!"
*lad
"Congratulations
to you both," he
grinned.
"Thanks."
"Yeah, thanks. I'll be coming back and shooting you
though
in about 7 months."
"Don't take it personally though."
"Oh,
I won't. Been there, done that. I'll have to remember to transmit some
'dealing with a pregnant woman' advice to Kyp later on."
"I've alread done that. it's 'do whatever she tels you
without complaint' advice."
Kyp
just laughed and shook his head,
"Maybe i ought to take that crystal back for a little while."
"Oh no, I need that crystle. Need to make my
lightsaber
before I go into labor." She grinned.
Booster
shook his head and nudged
them on their way. "You kids get going - and take care of each other!"
Kyp
was going to respond to Siee,
but then he called over his shoulder to Booster, "Will do."
He
looked at Siee, "You can have it
back AFTEr the kids are born?"
"No."
"Promise
not to slice me in half?"
She thought for a moment, then just sped up her pace
and
walked ahead a bit of him.
"Siee!!!"
*
They
entered the Anoat System, not
far from the Deyer colony.
Deyer
was a mostly oceanic world,
covered in raft-cities.
Kyp
got them clearance to land on
one of the larger raft-cities, and soon they were walking toward a
hotel
they'd been directed to.
"Siee,
I need to do a few things before
we go out..."
"Ok... where to first?"
"To
the Hotel, of course, but..." He
looked at her questioningly. "Would you be willing to stay while I go
find out a few things? I mean...."
She raised her eyebrow. "What kind of things?"
"Well,"
he scratched slightly at his
arm. "Things like whether it's safe to be a Durron around here since
the Empire was kicked out...."
he
spoke quietly.
"Or
what happened to my family's home....
That sort of thing." he shrugged.
"And you, being the protective husband, don't want me
around
in case someone comes after you in a bad way."
"If
I agreed with that sentiment, you'd
box my ears. No, actually it's more complicated than that."
"Explain then." She crossed her arms.
"Uhm...."
he scratched at his wrist
again, "I love you?"
he
smiled.
She couldn't hold the laugh back behind her smirk. She
sighed. "You really think it's dangerous here for me?
"
"Did
I tell you about my family, Siee?"
"Yeah, but that was a time where the Empire ruled,
dear."
Message is too long or
too
complex
"I
know that, but my family was high
profile. REALLY high profile." He paused. "Because of that profile, we were taken and Deyer
became an imperial garrison until just recently. We may not be all that popular."
She nodded. "Well, you know this world better than me.
So this ONE time, Kyp Durron, I will concede to you and listen to your
advice."
He
smiled, "Thank you, Siee." He
wondered to himself just HOW much better he would know the world,
seeing
as he'd been gone since he was but six years old.
*
They checked into the hotel under the name 'Terrik'. After
changing
into a simple tunic and slacks, his lightsabre secret in one pocket,
Kyp
headed to the wharf. When he was a kid, he remembered his brother
telling
him how he'd heard many stories there, so he knew it would be the
best
place to get information.
Blending in like the native Anoatian he was, Kyp headed toward
the
wharf; and once there, he perched himself on a dock to watch some of
the
fishermen work. Crustaceans were highly prevalent in the Deyer
colony,
and thus had become a staple food, as well as an export. After
about
half an hour, one fisherman confronted him. "What do you want
here,
boy?"
Kyp shrugged, "I used to live around here, and I was a bit curious to
see
what'd changed since I left."
The man chuckled, "Boy, things change around here so often even I
myself
can't keep record."
"Oh," Kyp shrugged. "Maybe I should go somewhere else to find out
what
I want to know then," he hopped down and turned to go.
"Now now, Boy, I didn't say I didn't know anything. Would you be
willing
to lend a hand to get that information you want?"
"Certainly," Kyp smiled disarmingly and rolled up his sleeves to take
place
in the brigade of sorts hauling the days catch from boat to dock.
"So, what sort of things you're wanting to find out, Boy?" the man
asked
as he passed a large barrel toward him. He was mildly impressed
at
the boy's strength as he passed the barrel along. Sure, the lad
had
white at his temples, but his face was still boyish enough he couldn't
be
much older than his early twenties.
He didn't know Kyp was using the Force to help with the weight.
"Well,
I used to be related to some folks over on Retlarbig way, oh, about
twelve
or thirteen years ago. I was wondering if anyone still lived
there?"
The man almost dropped the canister he was holding. Kyp winced,
that
wasn't a good sign. "Not many, Boy. Most moved away when
the
Durrons were executed."
"Executed?" he raised an eyebrow. "When was this?"
"Oh, 'bout Twelve years ago now, musta been just after you left,"
another
canister came his way. "Bunch of Stormtroopers broke in one
night,
my brother saw 'em haul out the limp bodies. The next day they
were
painting the front of their place with their blood. A warning to
anybody
else stupid enough to speak out against the empire." He shook his
head.
"I don't hold much for politicians, even the high profile
ones
- but those Durrons didn't do anything more'n talk. It was a bit
harsh
a punishment, if you ask me. 'Specially their two boys.
Pity
about them."
"I see," Kyp paused. "So none of the Durrons survived?"
"Not a one, left their pet all cut up on their front porch too, the
rotten
bunch of 'em." The man growled slightly as he passed along more
containers.
"Most of the people living around there moved within a month.
Empire
sent a bunch of bigwigs to keep us in line until about a year ago, when
the
Republic decided to take care of 'em."
"Wow," Kyp shook his head. "Houses are still standing then?"
"Yep. More people've moved back - but nobody touches the
Durron
mansion anymore. Some say it's haunted."
Kyp chuckled, "Haunted?"
"Yep. You kill a bunch of nice folks like that, you make their
house
haunted."
Kyp worked along side the man silently for the rest of the afternoon,
brushing
his hands off on his slacks as they finished.
"By the way, I'm Zoronto." the man stuck out his hand. "Thanks
for
the help, Boy. What's your name?"
Kyp paused for a long moment. Zoronto shuffled in the
uncomfortable
silence. He finally decided that the Force had finally given him
some
of a break, and it was safe. "Durron," he said at last, smiling
as
the man's eyes widened in horror. "Kyp Durron."
"You're related to those Durron's then?"
Kyp's face darkened somewhat as he took his hand back and shoved it in
his
pocket. "Actually, I was the younger son. They didn't kill
us
that night. They took Zeth off to Carida, and me and my parents
were
shipped off to Kessel."
"Kyp Durron?" the man blinked then called a few other fishermen over.
"Hey
boys! This here's one o' the Durron boys!"
The young Jedi flushed at the attention he got. He'd forgotten
this
part of being a Durron. He half smiled as they all clapped him on
the
back and congratulated him on being alive. "I take it I'm not
public
enemy number one then?"
"Sith no! Kyp, your family were looked on as heroes. Too
bad
more people didn't think like they did, or the Imps'd have been knocked
out
of here years ago."
He smiled then. "Would anyone be against my taking my family's
house
back?"
The fishermen all exchanged glances, then one laughed, "Hells no - it's
all
yours. Nobody else wants it anyhow!"
*
Kyp returned to the hotel with a grin on his face, and a spring in his
step.
He hardly noticed the fishy odour clinging to him as he
triumphantly
entered the hotel room. "Siee!" he called to her.
