Guilt flowed over him, drowning him to the point
where he could barely breathe. He fell to his knees and began to cry
despondently.
Siee walked up behind him, having felt the
emotions rolling from her husband for the last few minutes. She gently
knelt beside him and hugged him from behind. "It's not your fault,
love," she whispered to him.
"Yes... it... it is..." he choked out between
sobs. "I.. I killed him! If... if I wasn't so... so," he shuddered.
"*thoughtless*, he'd still be... be alive."
"You didn't know. And it's the Empire's fault for
breaking your family up in the first place."Shelonei: He leaned back
against her, choking out denial as he cried into her shoulder.
"What... what kind of... of father am.. am I
going to be, if... if... if I killed my own *brother* ?" he cried.
"The same kind of husband that I;ve fallen in love with.
Loving, dedicated and knowing that his path is the move on from his
past."
He turned,
resting his head against her shoulder, a hand on her stomach. He
reached out to the two small lives therein, too young to be even aware.
"I..." he gulped back the sobs, shoving them to
oblivion. "I promise to... to do my very best by you all," he vowed
quietly.
"We know you
will," Siee whispered, kissing Kyp's top of head.
They sat
there like that a while as he got better control of his feelings, then
he lifted his face up to hers and kissed her gently. "Thank you."
She kissed him back,
choosed to show her love through her kiss instead of words.
He lifted
a hand to gently push her hair back from her face as he lost himself in
her world. How many times would she save his life?
Siee
was his comfourt. How many times wouldshe save him? He looked about his
old room, then back to the beautiful womanholding him as he held her.
comfourt.
"Siee... Thank you."
"for what?"
"Just...
for being here, for teaching me, forloving me, for letting me learn to
love you, for marrying me, for carryingourchildren, just... for
everything." he half smiled.
Siee patted his head, stroking the hair gently. "I know."
He chuckled ruefully, "I sound
crazy, don't i?"
"Not at all... just a man in love."
He nodded and pulled back to look her
in the eye, "and I am that."
"So... what we going to do now, huh?"
His
eyes travelled about the messy bedroom heused to share with his brother
- and quickly he had to clamp down on thefeeling of dispair threatening
to drown him. "I don't know. I never thoughtthat far."
"Clean up... or..." her eyes twinkled...
"This room won't be touched," he
decided firmly. "it stays the way it is... for as long as it will be."
"Then we're going to need some fiberglass and a museum crowd
rope."
"How
about I can't take another moment in hereright now, we leave, and close
the door?" he spoke with a hoarseness to hisvoice she hadn't heard
since the day he'd broken down into memories of Kessel.
She nodded and stood up, leading him out and gently closing
the door behind them.
He
let out a long sigh, an invisible weight heavyupon his shoulders.
Without a word, he drew Siee and held her tightly inhis arms as a child
might a favoured stuffed animal in times of fear.
*************
Kyp
and Siee stayed on Deyer for a few days, working on putting the house in
order, and just spending time together. Hewas feeling haunted, however,
and wanted to get on their way. And so, onemorning.....
"Siee, why don't we go visit
your family on Tanaab?"
"We could...
my sister has a little boy... he's one... you'd love him."
He chuckled, "What's his name?"
"Sylis."
"I
like it," he stood and held a hand out toSiee from where he'd been
seated on the divan. "I took the liberty of packingwhile you were
sleeping. If you like, we can go now."
"All up to
you, husband. This is your vacation."
"OUR vacation," he corrected.
"I'll run up and grab our bag and we can go, then. I look forward to
meeting your family."
"And luckily for you, big brother
won't be there watching over us."
"Well, I'd rather him, than
Klivian," Kyp called over his shoulder as he ran up the stepcase.
"Oh...
HObbie's not THAT bad," Siee stated, stretching.
Kyp'd
grabbed their bag and was walking sedatelydownt he steps,"Siee, he was
hunting me down. If those thugs hadn't knockedhim out, I'd
probably be dead or on Kessel right now." He shrugged,"Not that I blame
the man. He's a good guy, has his head on straight unlikemyself."
"I don't
think Hobbie could have taken you out, Kyp."
"Siee, even Myn stopped me. I was
lucky to get out from under Han and Chewie's noses."
She just shook her
head. "Can we just not talk about this right now?"
He nodded curtly.
She stood up
and held a hand ot her head. "Sometimes I wish we had taken a
shuttle..."
His
gaze turned immediately to one of concernas he stepped forward and lay
a hand on her shoulder. "We can, if you thinkyou can't fly, Siee. I'm
sure I can arrange something."
"No... I'm
fine... just the kids taking over my body there for a moment..."
"You sure? I don't want you
doing anything too..." he stopped at the look she gave him. "Uh. yeah."
"I'll make
it... let's go."
He
nodded, and led the way out. He locked thedoor to the small mansion,
confident it would remain as it was until theyshould so desire to
return.
They
headed to the spaceport, and soon, with Siee shootinghim the
nav-coordinates with his lack of astromech, they were on their way.
